“Good Experience”

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the cruise terminal and airport. We were looking for a reasonably priced chain hotel.

We arrived about 9:30 AM after a series of flights from Eastern Canada. Thankfully the hotel was able to accommodate an early check-in. Reception was quick and friendly. We were pleasantly surprised by the room. It was quite large and came well equipped with essential housekeeping items as well as a stocked mini-fridge. The room was very clean throughout and the bed was comfortable with a soft foam mattress. The hotel has a very small elevator which must be accessed by two steps. It may be difficult for a challenged individual to access. There is a restaurant on site but unlike most North American Choice hotels breakfast is not included in the price. We had a room away from the busy Kingsford Smith road which was quite quiet
.
There is a very small pool with two chairs and one table. There are no ice machines and the front office makes it difficult to acquire ice. There is a complimentary washer and dryer available for guests. WiFi is available for a fee, 45 minutes for $3. Avoid the hotel phone. I was charged $4 for a local call and over $25 for a 10 minute call to Canada.

There are numerous restaurants, bars, local grocery stores and a BWS within 4 blocks of the hotel. A short walk gets you to the Brett’s wharf to board the City Cat ferry service. It was our intention to walk to the cruise port pulling our luggage. Good intention but we got a ride.

Great location and good value for our needs.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away fro Kinford Smith Drive.

“Pretty Average”

Not our first choice but needed somewhere close to the airport and the Novotel was twice the price. Tired but clean. Security not great as a stairway appeared to be open all night.

“OK hotel but free airport shuttle is misleading”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Booked one night stay as we were arriving in Brisbane airport late night before going to the Gold Coast the next day. Found it very difficult to find a hotel that had late check-in and there is only one very expensive hotel at the actual airport. This on is about 6km away. We chose this hotel as it was able to cope with late arrivals and had a free shuttle back to the airport in the morning where we needed to pick up the hire car. Taxi from the airport cost about $30 so we thought the airport shuttle would save us $30 on the return journey and would compensate a bit the quite high price for the room ($180).

Hotel itself was adequate although the bed was a bit uncomfortable and aircon loud. We arrived at 1am and our key was in the late check-in safe as expected which was a relief. Next morning I woke up early and went to ask about the airport shuttle and was told I should have booked it on check-in before 9:30pm. As we did not arrive until 1am this obviously had not been possible. The receptionist was not at all helpful and we had to pay for another $30 taxi so felt a bit cheated.

We were assured that there was aproper single bed but was more of a divan, the beds were just matress and base on the floor no legs. The rooms are definatly not sound proof and we heard the traffic and other guests all night. they asked to take details of our credit card incase of damages however they took $100 instead and after a week it still has not been returned to ur account. There was dust so thick on the bible looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Also they say the room had tea and coffe making facilities however there were none. We have to return next week and would never consider staying there again ..we were in room 55 Definalty not 4 star

“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

Stayed one night before flying out of Brisbane. We arrived early and were immediately given a room. The room was spacious and surprisingly quite considering the volume of traffic along Kingsford Smith Drive. The pool area was clean but lacked shade and only had minimal seating. The hotel is in walking distance of the Portside complex that has numerous restaurants, supermarket , gym and movie theatres. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was basic but well priced. Undercover parking. All in all a convenient and comfortable place to stay.
