“Darwin Oasis of Quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2006

We stayed on the top floor of an Executive 1 bedroom apartment with balcony overlooking the cycad garden of the Botanic Gardens, and a view of the ocean. After a recce around Darwin we decided that because we love peace and quiet, this was the best place to be (as opposed to being in the centre of Darwin). We used the Gardens twice daily to walk in, or as a thoroughfare to other areas such as Mindil Beach Markets, the Museum and the Ski Club (a great place to have lunch right on the shore beside the museum!). The only drawback was on Territory Day (July 1) when fireworks go on for 6 hours plus, and some residents of the complex let off 7 cartons of fireworks in the Gardens, right in front of our apartment and left their mess behind. The only thing that marred the holiday. The kitchen was slightly under-equipped but good enough and the floors weren't as clean as I would have hoped. But service is friendly, spa pool attached (very cool!); good fridge and stove; internal laundry great; comfortable queen bed and good reading lamps; quiet and efficient A/C. Extra towels were requested and given without charge or discussion. We had a great time. Recommended for couples who like quiet, leafy surroundings versus being in the thick of the action in the CBD. Also recommend that you request the top floor. Balcony faces west and so beautiful sunsets, but too hot to use in the middle of the afternoon. Great for b/fast and dinner (no bugs!).

“Botanic Gardens great hotel average”

Just spent several days here start of school holidays. Very quiet, rooms very spacious and well appointed as was kitchen. 2 pools were small, uninspiring no spa and altho provided bbq and table & chairs lack of lighting meant not suitable for poolside bbq cept daytime not evening when most would prefer in this climate. The Botanic Gardens literally next door are fantastic the balconies o/look the gardens & redeem an otherwise bit run down neighbourhood. Fine as we used it for a base to do day trips esp well set up for families, but would not reccomend it if lazing by the pool is your ideal holiday.

“Very nice apartments, good location”

We had a total of 4 nights in a 2 bedroom ground floor unit. The unit was clean and comfortable, quiet and equipped with everything we needed for a short stay, including full stove and washer and clothes dryer. Loved the location, the property backs onto the Botanic Gardens for early morning walks, and a simple route into the central area of Darwin. A great patio with table and chairs with lovely gardens full of birds. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We are a family of 5 and recently returned from a holiday to Darwin. Would recommend the 3 bedroom units to any family. Two pools, close to shops. Overlooks Botanic gardens - walkthrough to Mindil Beach, casino, museum. Buses on Stuart Hwy. Close to city (too hot to walk though). Fully self contained. Good air conditioning. very quiet.
