Whilst one wasn't expecting high quality as the price was reasonable value the motel is very old and tired and in dire need of rejuvination. We had stayed a few years previously and it was looking a little stressed then...and nothing had been done in the 18 months since. Whilst everything worked and the staff were helpful, the signs were everywhere that money needed to be spent. Location is okay being not too far from the CBD and easily accessible without a vehicle and the rooftop restaurant enjoys great views over the Darwin botanic gardens.

Would stay there again if the price was right...once they have renovated and returned some of the profits into the business.

Having read a few reviews recently we were a little apprehensive but upon staying and having a good time I can only recommend the Hotel. In a good position in Darwin the hotel isn’t new but rooms are well presented, food quality very good and we only had good experience with the staff.

As soon as I opened the door to the room I realized it stank of sweat and body odor. I went downstairs and complained to the receptionist, but they said they couldn't move me to another room because they are fully booked. I told them that I understood but I don't want to pay full price for a room that stinks. They refused any refunds or discounts because it was booked through a tour group (which shouldn't make any different).

But it wasn't so much the smelly room as it was the customer service. The receptionist showed a complete lack of caring and accountability. He actually seemed to be blaming me, claiming that it's difficult for him to do anything because I had booked with a large tour group. He left me waiting for 15 minutes while he farted around on the computer umming and ahhing and buying himself more time to think. He didn't seem to have any idea what to do and he verified that when he started answering my questions with "I don't know". It was at that point that I gave up and went to sleep in my smelly room.

My tour guide (not associated with the hotel) felt so bad for me that he bought me a bottle of wine, which is something that the hotel SHOULD have done.

Also: peeling paint in the bathroom, no overhead light in bedroom, dodgy WIFI, refrigerator placed in cupboard so it overheats and elevator with faulty buttons. The only saving grace was the widescreen LCD TV that had perfect digital reception.

Overall this was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Until they hire a manager that takes better care of the rooms, customers and staff, don't stay there.

Stayed here with a tour group for one night. It was pretty basic and as my room was on the ground floor extremely noisy with people coming home and slamming doors or talking loudly whilst waiting for the elevator. It was some distance to the town centre and some of the group I was with walked into town in the evening but found it quite a hike. Our dinner in the restaurant consisted on a tray of slices of roast beef (I think thats what it was), mixed vegetables and mashed potato. There were no alternatives for vegetarians or if you didn't like beef. I would definitely choose a hotel much closer to the town centre if I return to Darwin - which I hope I do because it looks like a very nice place.
