Just a really good experience from start to finish, no complaints at all. Staff were great and helpful (even helped me check into my return flight), bed was comfie, room to work in and when I knew I had a phone meeting (at check out) time, they told me to take as long as needed. Just a nice stress free experience. Valet parking was great too.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Darwin over New Years (2011-12) and while the room was very lovely and staff helpful, there were quite a few hiccups during our stay.
It seemed the hotel was really understaffed for New Years Eve. A small room service order at about 3pm ended up taking over an hour to arrive. Our room was not serviced fully on our second day of the stay - just new towels and beds made, but no new cups or glasses. We made calls to reception to get new ones and were told they were coming - but they never did!
In fact we made quite a few attempts at calling Reception for an enquiry (around 5pm on NYE) and our calls went unanswered for about a 45 minute period - not great if there was an emergency.
I understand this hotel gets busy over the new year period, but perhaps some additional staff would mean you can still provide the service we hoped for, and see mentioned in other reviews below.

We have 3 weeks at the Top End and are staying at 5 different locations. Whilst we always include some luxury hotels in our itinary when we do these trips we avoid spending all our time at these places as we often find them a little 'cold and clinical'

What a joy to find the staff at the Crowne Plaza are real people that really listen and you can have a real conversation with. This is a lot different to staff being 'efficient and friendly'. We booked in advance and the tarrif was very keen for this level of quality.

Breakfast was good as it offered a 'tea and toast' option which is all I ever have, whereas my wife had the full buffet. Only blemish was the muffins under her eggs were like wood.

Room was large with a great view and all mod cons. Bed very comfortable.

Would have been good to have couple of intersate papers to read in the lobby area. Local newspaper is marginal and has little to no news outside of Darwin.

Stayed for several nights, overall the best hotel option available in Darwin. Friendly and efficient staff who go beyond the call of duty, good breakfast, good rates available online. Very central location. Small pool, but you don't go to Darwin to sit by a pool.
