“I don't generally like casinos but this is A - OK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Small enought to be intimate , restaurants ans bars are not plentiful as its small but the do seem to = qualiy and the pool area with its uninterrupted views of the timor sea is quite special - I (against alls odd) like this place and am happy to recooend it as both a place to stay ( althought I have not seen the rooms) as the hotel is close enought to be close but far enought away from the casino to be separate and as a place to visit if you are in Darwin ?...... And let's face it you do need places to go to if your staying in Darwin for any duration ;-)

“Standard rooms are nowhere near 5 star”

My husband and I took advantage of the Territorian special and thought we would treat ourselves to a night out in a 5 star hotel... The service at the hotel is really good and the staff are friendly. The standard room we were given is very outdated though and a bit disappointing. We had no view at all (concrete wall) and couldn't open the door to the tiny balcony which isn't big enough to put a chair on, shame for a place with such a beautiful climate (we had staff unlock the door for us to at least let some fresh air in). The room was freezing and even after turning the aircon up it made no difference. It's definitely not a room you would want to spend time in, except to go to bed. The bed by the way was good, king size with lovely sheets. The room and bathroom was clean but needs the horrible carpet removed and needs to be lightened up. We would probably not stay in a standard room again, but we had a good night out, there's plenty to do at the casino, the pool looks really beautiful as well.

Thanks for taking the time to review your stay at SKYCITY.

As you may have noticed during your stay, we are currently rolling out a refurbishment program on a selection of our deluxe rooms and the air conditioning will be replaced by new split systems. The completion of the renovation will coincide with our new beach resort, which is due to open mid year. Keep any eye out for special Territorian rates for the new property once it opens.

We generally keep the balcony doors closed during the wet season, as many of our guests aren’t used to the tropics and our aim is to keep the rooms as comfortable as possible, however I’m glad our staff were attentive and able to assist.

I’m happy to hear you enjoyed your night out at the casino, and I hope we see you again once the new resort is open.

Kind regards,
Jeanette – Hotel Operations Manager

“fatastic staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

This hotel is fairly ordinary unless you spend the extra $50 for a suite. My first night was in a standard room. It was small and dirty. The next day i upgraded to a suite and it was a different world. The staff were excellent going above and beyond will be staying there again.

Room Tip: Spa suite is your best choice

“Lack of service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

The rooms are average at best. I feel more like im at a motel than one of the better hotels in Darwin. Room service is a joke. At 1am we decided to order some food from the 24 hour food service. Well we would have if they answered their phone. Also our tv is stuck on the adult channel. We'd call the front desk but they aren't answering their phone either.

Hi Mrflib,

Thanks for taking the time to submit your review, and I’m sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay at SKYCITY.

The hotel is currently undergoing a ‘facelift’ to breathe some fresh life into the property, in addition to our luxury resort development due to open in August. Regarding your room service experience, I have personally passed your comments onto our property Operations Manager, who is assessing our in-room dinning procedures so we can ensure we’re providing an efficient service for our guests.

If you would like to discuss your stay in further detail, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

Kind regards,
Jeanette – Hotel Operations Manager

“Great stay but getting a little tired”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We have stayed at this hotel on every occasion that we have visited Darwin. The suite room is worth the few extra dollars to have the advantage of two rooms, a bedroom and lounge room. The bathroom is fantastic with a spa bath, shower and two basins and decorated in marble. There is also an extra toilet when you enter the room. The hotel has everything you could ask for, swimming pool, numerous bars and a number of excellent restaurants. Whilst we enjoyed our stay, it is evident that the place is getting a bit tired. The toilets in the Aqua bar used to be first rate but now are showing lots of signs of their age along with the rest of the Casino. The gardens in the centre of the units are also a bit bare and not quite so inviting.

All of this aside, I still love this place. We received a free bottle of bubbly to celebrate New Years Eve and a giant cracker filled with chocolates. When checking in, we also received two complimentary drinks, two coffees and two Keno vouchers. The restaurants are fantastic and there is everything here you need. Cab fare from the Airport is about $20. Less than what Qantas profess on their short video review. Would definitely recommend for a stay, be whether you are a couple, friends or a family.

Room Tip: Breakfast is only $14.95 for buffet style at Sunset Restaurant. (Less if you have an Action card whi...

Hi Peterjules,

Thanks for taking the time to submit a review, and it’s terrific to hear you’ve have a great experience at SKYCITY.

We’re currently in the process of upgrading the property, from our restaurants to the casino floor and our hotel suites. From the concepts I’ve seen, it’s definitely going to breathe some fresh life into the property – not to mention our luxury new beach resort which is due to open in mid August.

We look forward to seeing you again next time you’re visiting Darwin.

Kind regards,
Jeanette
