“An OK place to stay but definitely nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

We stayed at this place after reading a few reviews on this site .Motel was situated in a reasonable location ,central to most activities[shopping centre just down the road]f as long as you have a car.Quiet and comfortable although the rooms were small and badly in need of refurbishment.
The swimming pool wasnt the cleanest we have ever swum in and the surrounding area was not the sort of place you would want to spend time relaxing.
Overall consider this establishment would meet the requirements of the average traveller so long as his expectations were not set too high.

“Comfortable accomodation and location to act as base for touring Darwin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2009

We selected Coconut Grove as we were a party of 6 and wanted a 3 bedroom apartment at reasonable cost. The apartment was small (compared with some in southwest of WA) but quite adequete though the two bathrooms being en-suite from two of the bedrooms meant that you had to be on good terms with the occupants if you were in the 3rd bedroom. A faulty airconditioner was repaired immediately it was reported. Helpful staff in office; 10 minutes from CBD; close to supermarket. Pool was a touch small. Good value.

My husband and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary. The rooms were perfect, the service great, close to all transport and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. I enjoyed my stay so much that I came back the next year and stayed there. Their prices are competitive and i would definately stay here when I travel back to darwin.

“We were robbed and our car was stolen!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2006

On our second night at the hotel our room was robbed with everything taken including our car keys. Our car was then stolen! We realised at 5am that the crime had occured and when we raised the alarm with management they were not at all shoked and gave us very little assistance. My husband ran out on to the road to find many of our belongings strewn along the street. We managed to get some of our clothes back but that was basically it. Obviously the security is terrible and the management are used to this kind of activity. Our car was found later in the morning at a near-by beach with the help of some lovely NT Police.

Stayed October 2003

This was an unfortunate incident, and as the Hotel has now changed management (2009) we are looking to continually develop and improve the services we offer our guests – including security.

As a result of this comment, we will undertake a thorough audit of the security systems in place at the property. The outgoing management have assured us that incidents like this were rare.

Coconut Grove Holiday Apartments have taken a new direction, and hotel security incidents are taken very seriously.
We do feel sorry for the guests who were robbed and hope when in Darwin next they will consider staying with us again.

“Was not as described on their website.”

Very small. Very old. 13 inch TV. No cooking facilities. Was advertised as a studio apartment with kitchen facilities. Shower rod was solid rust. Mirror over sink was rusty and very small. Quite a long walk from the beach. Not secluded as they make it look. Our luggage was gone through when we were out. Would not stay again.

The Coconut Grove Holiday Apartments have recently changed management (2009) and as part of this management restructure of the property, and an extensive rolling inventory upgrade has commenced. This audit will identify which items don’t meet the high standards expected by our guests, and will endeavour to exceed these expectations upon their next visit.
We acknowledge than in 2006, when this comment was originally written, fixtures in the hotel were well below the standard our guests should expect. The previous management identified this as a major concern of our guests and were in the process of upgrading many of the facilities. Since 2006, many items have been upgraded including the 13 inch televisions.
Management does appreciate comments from our guests, as continual improvement is one of our new policies.
