“Refurbished Harbour View Room”

On my third stay I was upgraded to a better room. It set the tone for the visit which ended after a good included breakfast. I missed having a bath, however the shower was refreshing and the toiletries pleasant.
I was sorry to miss dinner which seemed good on the menu. Although they missed the wake-up call, I managed without.
Suggest asking for a room away from next door's building work. From 8am to 8.30am there were some weird noises from there.

“What a disappointment”

Have not been to Darwin in 30 years. "Sunrise TV show" advertised accom special with Accor hotels so we booked 3 nights. Would have left the first night, when we walked in to the lobby what an eye sore, neglected plants & service average. As we were up on the higher levels you could see the plants in the atrium had been neglected and looked extremely dusty and dirty.
Got to the room to find it had a bad smell. View from the room was great. We turned on the Air con and found it poured water onto the rotting carpet near the window. I called to reception to fix problem, They said it was normal for the room to have a smell due to high humidity, in the dry season? I was repaired about an hour later.
Room furnishings poor, the lounge had a badly ripped cover so I turned it over to reveal even less material left on the seat cushion. The toilet flushed constantly for most of the night as it was faulty. Beds good to sleep on but for the toilet noise.
Decided to go for a swim in the pool it was shaded and noisey due to the new 12? multistory construction going on next door.
No mention of construction going on next door any where on the web site when booking.
We are frequent travellers locally & O/S but this is the worst place we have stayed at even with the discounted special rate.

Room Tip: Make sure you have an ocean view and away from the construction site next door.

I have pass the message on to our Maintenance and Housekeeping team to follow up. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence.

In terms of the product, the hotel has had a recent approval for a refurbishment program which is due to complete over the two months. This will includes a complete renovation and painting of our guest rooms, new furniture, bathroom, and up to date equipments.

“Dissapointing experience”

Firstly let me start by saying my husbands work payed for our 3 night stay otherwise we would have probably gone somewhere else.

We had booked a 2 bedroom suite for our family of 2 adults and 2 children but when we got to our room we were terribly dissapointed. It was so old and worn. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, doors coming off there hinges, broken furniture and the lighting minimal enough to hide the peeling paint on the walls. On the first night my children had used 2 glasses of water which I had rinsed and left on the bench to dry and the next day we received a letter advising us we would be charged a cleaning fee if we didnt put dishes away in future. I always made sure the room was tidy when we left for the day but had simply forgotten to put 2 glasses on the shelf and dont feel that deserved a threat of a cleaning fee.

The airconditioners were all extremely loud and made it impossible to sleep so we turned a couple of them off even though there was a note telling us they must be kept on at all times. The ceiling fans didnt work properly either. There is building work going on right next to the hotel which started before 7am. I can only rate our experience from the room we were given as Im sure some of the rooms on higher floors have probably been refurbished.

Check in and check out was very quick as theer never anyone in line when we were there. We didnt use any of the services or eat at the restaurant so cant comment on that. The car park only holds about 25 cars and we could never get a space so had to park on the street every night.

The hotel is located on the Esplanade so just a short walk to cafes, pubs etc on Mitchell Street.

We would only stay here again if the room was up to date and the price would have to be super cheap as there are many other hotel options available in Darwin now.
