“Hidden tropical hideaway”

My partner and I just got back from a 4 day mini break at Moonshadow Villas minutes from Darwin centre. It was our first time in Darwin and we were warned about the time of year we were going due to the hot, oh so hot climate. Needless to say, our friends were right!! It was hot but thankfully Moonshadow villas gave us a break from the heat and the private, tropical pool area was the best part.

There are only 5 villas each unique in their decor, lay out and they all lead to the pool with their own entrance. The pools are plunge pools with waterfalls and overhanging trees to create a lovely shady area to escape the serious humidity at this time of year with a quick dip, then back to the air con or ceiling fans (everywhere). Our Villa, the Mimi villa was just beautiful. It was spotlessly clean, well appointed and very 5 star. All self contained, Peter, Moya and Lawrence have thought of everything to meet your needs. They even pre shop for you (upon request) and will get your favourite bottle of chilled whatever for when you arrive. This is additional to the courtesy bottle of wine and they even throw in a couple of chilled beers to get you started as well as your breakfast pack (very generous) Because the flights into Darwin direct from Melbourne are normally the "red eye", they leave the air conditioning running and lights on for your early morning arrival. These extra special touches all add to the VIP treatment that Moonshadow offers all their guests.

Our villa could have slept up to 4 people with an extra room with 2 single beds and their own bathroom. The master bedroom upstairs is big as well as a huge ensuite bathroom and walk in robe. The self contained kitchen does the job with all cutlery and crockery provided. A laundry thrown in creates the feel of your own home away from home. I especially liked how clean and well maintained all the villas are, as is the outdoor space (Thanks Ron!!!)

We found the Moonshadow villas on "Wotif" and their rates made this trip even better with big savings to be had if you book through Wotif for a last minute break - a good idea trying out Wotif Moya and Lawrence !!! Well done.

So, we will definitely be back in the dry season and will be staying for much longer next time as Darwin is quite an amazing little city. Whilst we chose not to venture too far from the air conditioning this trip, had we wanted to, Moonshadow staff can provide all the details for tours, trips and places to eat and see.

Moya and her team even allowed us to stay on in the villa for an extra few hours after our flight was delayed. Whilst this may have not been a big deal to them, it made a big difference to my partner and I to be able to "hang out" in the cool villa until our flight finally left.

Overall, a great place to stay for long or short term, couples or families and a big thanks to Peter, Moya, Lawrence and Ron for your amazing hospitality - you made a sad time for me back home a little bit easier.

T & B

Room Tip: All the villas are lovely - just ask Moya for what best suits your needs.

“Lush tropical oasis in the centre of Darwin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011 via mobile

The Moonshadow Villas run by Peter and Moya together with their able and friendly staff will leave a lasting impression of what a holiday destination should be.

The clever and overwhelmingly pleasing architecture and furnishings provided a sanctuary for our two week holiday.

The generosity and friendliness shown to us was superb, as was the cool and refreshing plunge pool at the end of a long hot day. Thank you for making our stay one to remember.

“Serene villas in beautiful rainforest gully”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011 via mobile

I have just left Moonshadow Villas after a divine two week stay. The attention to detail in the furnishing and services of the villas is wonderful. One Monday morning the owner even arrived with a loaf of home baked bread! The villas are furnished in an eclectic Asian/tropical modern style and are supremely comfortable. Staff are attentive and friendly and the serenity of relaxing on the outdoor deck under the palms was a relaxing respite after shopping or sightseeing.

“The only place to stay in Darwin.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

I travel extensively to Darwin for work and found Moonshadow Villas to be excellent. Moya organised everything perfectly, which always aloud me to just walk in and get settled before long days of meetings. Even when I booked at short notice Moya always found a villa or one of there inner city apartments for me.

It's the small personal touches that make this property perfect. I would recommend if you have extended visits to Darwin, moonshadow will become your home away from home.

“Tropical oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

I have been a Travel Consultant for many years and over that time I have stayed in some very special accommodation both domestic and internationally. However this the first time that I have ever placed a report in Tripadvisor as I felt people should be aware that this type of accommodation is available in Darwin.

We have stayed in Moonshadow Villas in Darwin on four separate occasions and it is a wonderful experience. We visit Darwin to attend the V8 races and as it can be very hot and dusty at Hidden Valley Racetrack it is a pleasure to return to Moonshadow Villas where it is cool and shady with wonderful balconies to relax with a cool drink and chill out.

There are 5 spacious Villas in the complex of different configurations to suit client requirements. They are all beautifully designed with hardwood floors, wonderful colours and furnishings. I would be remiss to not comment about the bedding which comprises of superb linen and supremely comfortable beds. Not to mention the hundred and one pillows that Moya decorates the beds with!

There is a very inviting sandstone pool surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and all Villas are cleverly screened to maintain privacy. The grounds are maintained immaculately by Ron who appears unobtrusively every morning.

Moya and Peter are always happy to assist with any requirements you may have - recommended restaurants and even where to get the best pizza !!

We always enjoy our annual stay in Darwin largely due to the standard of accommodation that Moonshadow provides and one day we will stay longer to enjoy the ambience even more.

Thanks again Moya and Peter and see you next year!
