We arrived in Alice Springs on a Friday morning and stayed one night at White Gum Motel. We were met by the nice woman at the office and quickly given the keys to our room. My husband and I walked into the room and noticed 5 beds in the room (1 full, 2 twin, and bunk beds). The room also had a kitchen with very very old appliances, and a standard shower-only bathroom. The decor is definitely very out-dated but this didn't bother us because we weren't expecting luxury. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the town square area and there are plenty of stores nearby to buy goodies/water for the room. We checked out on Saturday morning, left for 3 days, and checked back in for one more night on Monday evening. We were given the same room... but we immediately noticed the room was not cleaned since the last time we were there. The beds were made (sheets not washed), the trash wasn't emptied, the dirty knife we used was still in the sink, the towels weren't replaced, and other small pieces of trash we left behind were still in the room. This made us question how well they cleaned before we checked in the first time.
Overall the hotel is conveniently located and a bit overpriced considering how out-dated the rooms were... but they lost cool points with us due to the lack of cleaning.

We thank you for your reponse on Trip Advisor.
From time to time due to operational reasons we do role rooms over when guests come in for one night and then go out on tour and come back. It is convienant for for us to use the sane room. I feel that on this occasion the check in staff may have omitted to tell you of this and had they done so then you would would not have had to carry your extra luggage with you on the trip.
I have looked into your comments on the cleanliness of the room and have taken the required action to rectify this problem.
Also the reason that you were allocated a room with so many beds was on this accasion it was only room that was availble at the rate you paid of $65 per night.
Thanks again for your feed back and do enjoy the rest of your holiday.

“Best value for money”
The rooms are fully self contained with cooking facilities. Clean tidy and quiet. The manager, Sharon, is a treasure, and make this a great place to stay.

We spent 2 nights at the White Gum Motel while we visited Alice Springs.
We were made very welcome by the owner Steve. The room was very clean and we were pleasantly surprised by the recent renovations as we have stayed there previously. The summer special price of $65 per night for a couple was an added bonus and excellent value for money. We have stayed in a few other hotels in Alice Springs on the way through while travelling, but this is the one I would recommend to stay at. It is also within walking distance of the Memo club for a great meal. Thanks again Steve and we hope to see you sometime in the future.
Room Tip: We stayed in room 4 which is cooler than the sunny south side

The special rate that we have on offer over the summer months is surely a winner.

“2nd home”
Have stayed here many times, Sharon and her staff are always friendly and keen to help. I have had work crews comming and going and nothing is ever too much trouble for them when we have needed to change arrangements. All my crews have spoken highly of Sharon, we have had some difficult working arrangements and it is great to know that our accomodation is not a hassle. The pool & BBQ area looks inviting and is a great place to relax at the end of the day.

“Very welcoming!”
Sharon met us as we pulled in, made us feel welcome and comfortable and supplied our every need! The location was great, the room was spacious and well supplied and the staff was just lovely. We stayed an extra day!
