“Don't call them tents, they're cabins!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

Please... firstly it had been raining, so all the dust had compacted to mud.. which got everywhere, inside the safari tent, all through the toilets, the restaurant, etc.
Staff were nice and friendly, but I wonder if it was to just made another over-priced buck. We went to the camel 'show' they had with damper and billy tea... but had to sit through 2.5 hours of some guy showing us documentaries and powerpoint slides - not the show I'd expected really..
However, if the weather was warmer, sunnier, the beer was less expensive and they had mobile phone coverage, I'd feel better about it.

“This place is awesome”

This station is so nice to camp at. We had a whole big area all to ourselves, our own camp fire and BBQ pit, our own table and chairs and own undercover eating area. The amenities were fairly clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were sad to leave. It made an excellent base for exploring the canyon and the camel rides were a hit with the kids.

“Very expensive campground and service whatsoever”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2010

We arrived a few minutes after closing time, the gate was closed shut and, contrary to most other campgrounds we have used, there were no signs explaining how to come in and set up. The only people we met were other campers trying to find a staff person to fix the lack of lights in the bathroom.
We ended up paying $64 for 4 people after spenging 8 hours in a flooded campground, without any lights in the the only open bathroom. Staff was unresponsive and uninterested about the shabby equipment. Facilities were on par with the campgrounds in Curtin Springs which is FREE!

“Read the reviews frist!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2010

Like many others before us we chose Kings Creek Station rather than stay at the very pricey Voyages resort at Kings Canyon. Careful reading of the kIngs Creek website pretty much gives you a picture of what you can expect but the reality is sometimes a bit different. The reception arrangements were not good when we arrived - certainly zero information about anything; the tents were OK, but could do with something to put stuff on (like galsses, books etc). Fan was good and light adequate but really should be at bed head end of tent. Showers and toilets were excellent and clean but likely to be in heavy demand when campsite is full - we were only visitors. BBQ was clean and worked well. Breakfasts were excellent but it would have been helpful to know in adavance that large numbers of bus trippers arrive for breakfast around 7-7.30am and this can delay resident's breakfast quite a lot.
Good things: Breakfast , Wonderful situation, stars amazingly clear, lots of camels wandering around, pretty good camping ambience. BBQ and salad packs were great
Bad: needs a bit of an uplift generally, pool poor and no seating there at all. Expensive - $72.50 per person per night is right at the high end.

“Oh dear ..... for Safari Cabin read boy scout tent!”

(Apologies for late review - stayed Sept 09)
Trying to be clever and avoid lining the pockets of Voyages Resort at Kings Canyon, I decided to book a "Safari Cabin" at Kings Creek Station for an "authentic outback experience". You should have seen my husband's face when we arrived, saw the regimented line of green tents, opened the door to find just 2 metal framed beds ... and nothing else! Not even a box to put anything on. There is a fluorescent strip light and a hook and a mirror - after that we had to use a suitcase as a bed-side table. The tents are only a couple of metres apart and the loos and showers are in a bare concrete block with no light in the ladies shower.

Last orders in the cafe are at 6:30, and everything is shut by 7pm

You are promised you will fall asleep to the sounds of the outback - all you can hear is the whine of the diesel generator, and in the morning the traffic on the road past the camp!

Definitely one to avoid unless you are a frustrated boy scout!
