“Camp elsewhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We were charged $18 per person to camp on the front lawn of the Ross River Resort. Only two other places in our travels (King's Creek Station and Yulara Campground) have dared to charged as much, and in addition to being right near iconic tourist attractions (Ross River is not) they also provided:

-Cooking facilities
-Refrigerators
-Washing-up facilities
-Laundry facilities
-Dedicated campers' toilet blocks with multiple showers

Ross River Resort had none of these things; just a patch of grass, a single BBQ, and a somewhat grotty bathroom with a single shower that disconcertingly was shared with patrons from the restaurant.

RRR also has the distinction of selling the most expensive petrol on our travels thus far.

Ross River is a nice setting, but don't reward the sloppiness and poor value. Stay elsewhere.

“Absolute rip-off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We had to pay $18 each to camp on the front lawn of this establishment. This is a shocking price considering that the usual price in the outback is $7 per person for many more facilities. Although Ross River claims to have camping facilities, we were only allowed access to the toilet block in the homestead which was very dirty and there was only one shower for each gender, and no shower curtain. Nowhere to wash dishes, do laundry etc., in fact no facilities for campers at all. Swimming pool was very dirty, and although we did not see inside the cabins they looked very run down. Considering what they charge for a patch of grass, I hate to think what they charge for the cabins. Staff were very rude. The area is beautiful but avoid staying at this establishment at all costs!

“refreshing break away”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

We had a terrific two day break. The hospitality was excellent, management and staff could not have been more helpful or friendly, even taking us to see sunrise over the Range. We treated it as homestead stay rather than resort and really enjoyed ourselves. The cabins are basic and showing their age, but are comfortable and reflect the era in which they were built. The pool was an oasis on a hot day. The scenery is spectacular, particularly N'Dhala Gorge. But there were great walks and views close to the Homestead. We would happily return for another 'recharge' weekend break.

“Dreadful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

Accommodation $20 more than what was quoted. Staff were disinterested. Dinner was put in front of you, no choice straight from the freezer. The accommodation (resort - must be joking) was old, had holes in the floor and walls to let the mice in. Couldn't sleep all night because of the mice running around - two were actually in the bed! Not one good thing to say about the place. We left at sun up glad to leave the place. Sorry we had paid on arrival. If you have a choice don't go there.

“A swindle. Cockroaches and mices”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2011

If I had visited first tripadvisor I woudn´t have gone to this awful place. The owner was very rude. She asked us if we were going to stay for dinner, and after that she ignored us for more tna 40 minutes waiting for dinner until the cooker came to ask. There weren´t any light in the dark to go to our hut. The huts were very rusty and old with plenty of holes, and during night there was a party of cockroaches and mices, and I don´t want to think if anything more, running everywhere. We couldn´t sleep. The dinner: they hadn´t any menu, and we ate just what they had. They charged 20$ per dinner. The night was 150$.Just a swindle. I guess why we were the only guests in the resort.
