“Not worth the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012 via mobile

I stayed here with my partner mid January for one night.
We've stayed here previously last year at the same time for 2nights in a standard room (window facing building wall but otherwise it suited us fine)
This year was another story.. the air con did not work - ridiculous at this time of year! the walls were absolutely filthy and dust had built up all along the top.
The toilet was right next to the wall so you had to sit on it diagonally, the bed blanket had cigarette holes and the wheels were not locked on the bed base!
This was SUPPOSE to be a superior room.. even though they say the windows are double glazed, they do not even open - you can't enjoy the view if you feel locked in the room!
Definantly disappointed and will never be staying here again, plenty of other hotels in Sydney that are in close location and value for money!

“For $154/night, you too can have a room the size of a closet!”

Our "Standard twin room" wasn't even wide enough for a double bed. Most hostels offer more space for under $100 for a private room.

The woman who checked us in was extremely rude, and insisted on explaining a pre-authorization on my credit card in three different ways, despite my very clear "I understand"s.

Beware - the reception closes 9pm - 7am and if you lose your key and require assistance to enter your room, a $75 charge applies. It's time for this hotel to staff its desk 24-hours, especially when charging rates over $150/night. It's a short-term stay hotel, not an apartment complex.

“No complaints about convenient location, reasonable price, basic room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I stayed there for 2 nights in order to attend a meeting in Sydney, and I'll consider staying there again in the future for short business trips (not at all the type of place I'd stay for a vacation). Good price at A$130 per night.

Very close to Central Station (5 minutes walk), so easy to get to and from airport. About 10-15 minutes walk to Chinatown, plus plenty of other restaurants within 5-10 minutes walk.

After reading the reviews, I was prepared for a room with no windows. I had a room with a window -- but there was a wall within 1 metre of a window, and that was the only view! That didn't matter to me because I was only really there to sleep.

Small but adequately sized room. Very reasonable bathroom. Soap from a soap dispenser (first time I've seen it -- much more environmentally friendly than throwing away a bar of soap after every guest). Simple and clean and not at all fancy. Small hole in the blanket and lots of scratch marks on the wall (from suitcases), but didn't affect the overall comfort or functionality.

Appears to have reasonable security -- swipe card required to use the elevator. No complaints about reception.

“Prepare to be nickel and dimed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Stayed here over NYE weekend and got fully gouged on the room rate, at about 4 times the normal price. We knew that this would be the case, and certainly the Leisure Inn was one of the (comparatively) less expensive options in Sydney that weekend, but the rate we paid made it especially painful when the hotel nickel and dimed us for every conceivable thing - $15 for a day on Internet access, $1 to place a local call plus $1 per minute for the call itself, $2 per bag to store bags after check-out, etc. etc. This place seemed far more concerned with lining its pockets than providing exceptional service. This is a pet peeve of mine even when I am not paying a hugely inflated room rate for a special occasion.

That said, it's very convenient to the Central train station, and clean. You can walk or take a quick train ride to a lot off different parts of Sydney - Darling Harbour, Chinatown, Circular Quay, etc. Front desk staff were friendly and adequately helpful. Nothing above and beyond when it came to guest service, but no gripes either.

The temperature in our room was very difficult to balance- we were either freezing or the room was stuffy. Very litte ambience and our window looked out on an oh-so-charming brick wall.

I'd say the convenient location is worth it if you're exploring Sydney a bit and paying $100 or less per night. Two nights here had us quite ready to move on to more charming accommodations.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a window that faces the street rather than a brick wall.

“Central location, top hotel”

We stayed night before NYE, online bargain of $109 for twin room. Tiny, but perfectly formed. No window, strangely the single beds were joined at the head, sad i didn't take photos. The person in the other bed could not see TV. All very modern with wonderful bedding. Only downfall was the shower, too bad if you didn't want to get your hair wet, but guess you could use the shower cap, water splashed over floor. Chinese restuarant over the road with the BEST spring rolls i have ever had. MacDonalds on the corner and 7/11 over road too. We parked our car behind Mercure, they had some sort of deal. Good value for one night, would definately stay again. Reception was wonderful, young girl couldn't do enough to help. Booked us taxi for next morning and it was early!
Top marks!
