“Very LOUD! But I always stay here.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

I always stay here - I have been staying here when I visit Sydney for the last 4 or so years. The quality goes up and down but it is ALWAYS LOUD. I don't mind that it is loud, as I am young and most the time I can sleep through it.

Positives: Location (Oportos across the road, along with a kebab shop and a milk bar, McDonalds just down the road, Pubs everywhere, Coles a 5 min walk and Train station 2 min walk away), TV, DVD Player, DVD Library, Elevator ISNT loud, Kitchenette, PRICE is GREAT!

Negatives: LOUD - ALWAYS, the service isn't that great, and the key card system isnt always the best - been locked out twice!

I have come here with my partner, with friends, and by myself.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise!

“Great Location but Noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

We needed a hotel close to St Lukes Hospital ( on same street) as my Mum was having surgery. The hotel is very close to the train station, restaurants and cafes, convenience stores etc but also niteclubs with one next door. We asked for a room with an extra bed for me while Mum was in hospital and then for her in the week before going back in for her 2nd operation. We were moved to a room on the 1st floor towards the back.
The first issue was the lift it didn't stop on 1st floor unless you press 123 on it. As my Dad has knee problems the lift was essential. Coming down I would run down the stairs and open lift press 123 and hop on and go back up and pick him up.The elevator stopped every time with a huge jolt when it arrived at our floor - I thought it was going to break!
The 2nd issue and the biggest issue was the NOISE. After having a traumatic day spent at the hospital and hardly any sleep the night before at the hotel, we get back to find that the nightclub was open (on a Tuesday night) and the music started at 9ish and ended at 4am. It was so LOUD, the floor and windows were vibrating, you couldn't hear the television at all, and the base was so thumpy that it made you feel sick after a while. I don't mind music but the volume could not have been louder and we weren't even at the front of the building. The bottles crashing, the yelling, the music, the loud chatter and screaming just topped of our night with us having no sleep at all!
We packed up and moved out as soon as we could, the man at desk agreed that it was dreadfully noisy and no place for someone to recover from surgery.
The area was fine for restaurants etc but as we come from the country we'll commute in from relatives in Sutherland Shire for the next part of Mums surgery.
I always read thru reviews on tripadvisor before booking anywhere and I wish Mum & Dad had checked tripadvisor before booking this place but they are complete converts of tripadvisor now!!!

“Many positive possibilities, however most fall flat!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

The hotel is in a very happening part of the city, "King's Cross". Here, you get a mixed bag of things from prostitution, many loitering vagrants, seedy activities, to plentiful pubs, many restaurant choices, good transit, and close to good walks to places such as Hyde Park and Elizabeth Bay. But, the hotel itself lacked in many areas. The front door could be problematic in as much as it was locked early. The staff gave so-so. service, the cleaning of our room was hit and miss (never vacuumed, and either half cleaned or forgotten altogether), the elevator was a bit of a fright (a huge jolt each time it arrived at our floor), the window was very difficult to open, and the "NOISE" was almost unbearable come "party" hour!!! On Friday evening, I probably slept off and on for two hours tops. On Saturday evening, I took advantage of the hotels free earplugs. This helped a bit. Be sure that I am NOT exaggerating here. I have never heard so much loud music banging, yelling, screaming, hooting, and loud chatter directly below any hotel I have ever stayed in. The music went on until 6 AM! Oh yes, get ready for the garbage/bottle collection that occurs very early in the morning. The best thing about this hotel has to be its location!! It is within easy access to transit, charming neighbourhoods, a variety of shops, many pubs, and downtown.

Room Tip: No tips will help find a better room here!

“Lamb dressed as mutton.. only if you have too...”

From Looking at the photo's of this hotel looked great as a over nighter stay as getting into Sydney around 9pm.. it also said free parking which was great and the price I paid was under $80 on a Thursday night so on that basis who could complain.. But next time I'd rather pay the extra money and stay somewhere else, No1 - got there at 9pm, door closed had to call someone to come and open the door, that took half hour... 2. It wasn't free parking at all and the Lady there didn't care and just thank us for noting that out to her..3. Lift was out of order.. 4. Was promised an upgrade because of the fiasco with the parking and no-one being there to open the door.. but if that was an upgrade room I hate to see the normal room.. 4. only 1 key was activated, other didnt work. 5. Room looked nice at first glace but everything was cheap and unfitted right, looked like a renovation that went wrong, AND 6. The worst off all is the NOISE!! no sleep at all between the nightclub, talking bouncers all night and the 10 million Garbage collection..
Stay here if you like, but dont say you wasnt warned..

“Great Value, excellent location, clean room, welcoming staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

We stayed at Lido 12th-14th August 2011.We were impressed with the central location, public transport very close by, excellent service upon arrival and a genuine concern for our comfort. We were advised of the possible noise coming from the nightclub below. We simply wore earplugs (supplied by the hotel) and really had a restful sleep. The suggestion in the morning, that we try Uliveto cafe for breakfast (in nearby Bayswater Rd) was welcomed. Quality all round. When we were ready to check out,we were offered a cab.We will certainly stay here again when we next visit Sydney. For value and comfort, service and convenience Lido Suites cannot be beaten
