“Great B&B, ideal locations for ferry, Opera House, Bridge & The Rocks”

My girlfriend and I stayed here in late November 2011. We were greeted by Jeff who was polite and helpful. The B&B was lovely and clean. Our room was spotless, we couldn't ask for more. Breakfast is fantastic, as a few of the other comments have said, the pancakes are great as was the cooked breakfast. Jeff's mate was a lovely little fella too!

The atmosphere in the B&B was very relaxed and the location was ideal. Geoff told us about a few shortcuts which meant we were at Circulay Quay within 4 minutes (be aware there are a lot of steps but you can go around these if they are a problem). We were able to visit the Opera House and bridge easily as well as take the ferry to Manly and to other parts of the city.

The B&B is right in The Rocks which is great for going out and ideally located as a base to explore Sydney. We spent out last night of the trip at one of the posher hotels in the area but it wasn't half as enjoyable as staying at the B&B, we would definetely skip the hotel next time to stay at the B&B.

We hope to visit Sydney in the future and would stay at the B&B without a second thought. If you are worried about booking here, don't be, get it booked!

“Five Star hospitality!”

Really enjoyed our stay at this B&B. Jeff, the owner, went out of his way to make us feel at home. Its an old Victorian house, full of character with lovely bedrooms and a garden courtyard in which to take breakfast. Couldn't be better situated to explore the "Rocks" area and only a few minuets walk to the Bridge and Opera House.

Would definitely stay there if visiting Sydneyagain.

Room Tip: Ask for the McQuarie room which has its own bathroom.

“Authentic but not great”

This inn has a very convenient location - right in the middle of The Rocks, a wonderful historic area which includes many shops and restaurants. It is a 5 minute walk to the Circular Quay (pronounced "key") ferry and railway terminal, 10 minutes to either the Opera House or the Sydney Harbor Bridge, and a 20 minute walk to the Darling Harbor dining and entertainment area.

The inn itself is historic and very quaint. However, the rooms are not quite up to snuff. Ours was small with very little storage space. Some rooms here are en suite, but ours shared a bath which was not quite as convenient as we would have liked.

The staff was competent but not quite as solicitous as we have become used to in the top B&B's in the The States.

Nothing really bad to say about the place. And the location, as I said, was great.

“Unique”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Loved this B&B, so different from all the 'branded' hotels. Jeff was so helpful, nothing was a problem. If you have the chance, stay here.

““An interesting b&b””
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

We stayed in the Parkes suite on the ground floor. At one time I believe the suite was an independent apartment. The layout of the rooms was rather unusual. One enters the double bedroom first and then a large kitchen area, though there were no kitchen appliances except for a fridge and kettle to make tea or coffee. Past the kitchen is a short hallway which leads to a separate toilet and a small bathroom on the left, and then to a small bedroom with a single bed in it at the end. It was not what I call luxurious, except perhaps for our bedroom, but one cannot be too picky when one considers its position in the Rocks area of Sydney.

There is a very pleasant dining room and outside is a large patio with tables, chairs and parasols. There were all the usual breakfast items of fruit juices, cereals, tea and coffee; the blueberry pancakes were delicious. The delicious fresh fruit was laid out in individual dishes so that one could help oneself. There were several different nationalities at breakfast including German and French speakers.

We weren't disturbed at all by the proximity of the slip road off the Harbour Bridge ramp. Even though we were very near to everything it was in a relatively quiet road so we all had a good night's sleep
