“Boutique with the capital "B" !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We stayed here during New Years which is always a very busy period in Sydney. Very warm welcome from Luke and a very nice room. Perfect for a couple. All was very clean, nice bath room, Aveda products and perfect wifi in the room. No facilities at the hotel but you are in Darlinghurst so cafe, restaurants all within minutes walk serving all day breakfast. Location is great. Would definitely return. Staff are all very helpful and friendly. A must go when in Sydney.

“Darlinghurst and Luke”

Everyone is nice but Luke rocks. The guy knows everything there is to know about Sydney and he is happy to share it with you. Darlinghurst was a major hit. Who needs the downtown tourist zone with the monster hotels. Darlinghurst is the complete opposite. The whole city seems walkable from here (of course it's not). There are loads of restaurants and bars in the area. If you must take a taxi there are loads on this street. If you come by metro use the King's Cross stop. It's minutes away. We originally used the Museum stop -- wrong. Should have called Luke. It's almost all uphill from there!

So the hotel was very comfortable. My bed was perfect. We stayed in an unusual room that we really liked. It was on the main street and we had NO noise issues at all. The front porch was nice for a glass or two of wine in the evening. Wifi is not perfect in our room but Luke advised as such. In the hotel otherwise it was great. They had Aveda bath items.

So for the complainers....no iphone dock. I had just gotten the 4S and wanted to give it a spin. Oh well. They don't have a restaurant or bar -- no idea why they would with all the other options in the area.

Again....Luke, Luke, Luke.

Room Tip: Ask Luke when you get there. We did.

“funky in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

We had a weekend at the Medusa & enjoyed almost everything about it. The location & service were the standouts - you can walk to Potts Point, Darlinghurst, Surry Hills, Oxford St, the city, the harbour etc. Great cafes nearby too.

Room Tip: Make sure you're not at the back upstaris near the aircon for the whole building

“Charming boutique hotel in the heart of "Darlo" (Darlinghurst)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I stayed here for a couple of nights recently and loved it. The pink property is easy to spot and has loads of charm and character. The management is welcoming and helpful - Luke was a honey and had many great suggestions for things to do and places to eat - and my room was quiet and well appointed.

It is far enough away from the craziness of King's Cross, yet a 15 minute walk takes you to Potts Pint, or down to Hyde Park. A little further - but still walkable, is Paddington. Literally around the corner are pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants to suit every taste. A short stroll takes you to the Sydney Institution Bill's, with its well known all day breakfast. And diagonally opposite is Onde, a French-inspired bistro that has been pacing them in since 1996.

Highly recommended!

“A Wonderful Alternative to a Sydney CBD Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

I stayed for two nights a few weekends ago. The management are just great and create a welcoming, relaxed, atmosphere where you feel a 'part of the place' in an unobtrusive way. Don't be afraid if you are used to staying in large CBD type properties. Yes, it is a small property but offers pretty much everything you need - but with wonderful, friendly service. The management are fine ambassadors’ for the local area and I don't think there would be any question they could not answer. The room guide - The Silver Book - is full of valuable local information – I have not seen a better room guide that outlines local restaurants / shops etc in any other hotel (and have stayed in rooms all over the world). What these boys don't know about the local area is just not worth worrying about - follow their advice and you will not go wrong. A multitude of fab shops and cafe / restaurants’ are in the local area and a quick 15 min walk to the centre of CBD (if you really feel the need). I stayed in a Grand Room and it was just perfect - beautiful high ceilings and huge opening windows.
Stay just once - I trust you will want to return as soon as possible – I am!
