“Great Time”

We stayed in the Hotel before and after a Cruise around Australia. We had no problems of any kind.We would however like to comment on a few things that are of importance. The Manager was very accommodating and helpful. The rooms were clean and adequate .The Hotel is equipped for people with disabilities. It is very handy to the city, including excellent bus service. The breakfasts had fresh fruit eggs, ham etc. along with Latte's Cappuccinos etc. The prices quoted were honoured and of good value. We would stay there again and recommend it.

“2 hr timer on A/C, wouldn't honor quoted rate”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

There is a timer on the A/C that allows it to run for only 2 hrs. This is incredibly inconvenient in the middle of summer when you'll be getting up every 2 hrs. to turn the thing back on. Management wouldn't honor rate quoted over the phone. Flakey internet: front desk clerk says it's free, then after day 1 a web page pops up saying it's $10/day, but you have to get a code from the front desk that's not open past 7:00 pm., then the manager tells me it's $15/day and I was obviously connecting to some other internet connection that was free. Only good thing was the free breakfast, but who cares when you're bloody exhausted from waking up every two hrs., hot as hell because the A/C turned off. Shuck out the extra $20 and stay at Holiday-Inn.

“Book elsewhere”

Arrival - poor customer service with very little professionalism. Receptionist did not greet us or seem pleased for our custom.
Bedroom - the fridge was dirty, no headboard on the bed and the lamp switch was at the head of bead, so each time you turn over the light would flash on and off.
Bathroom - could do with some bleach and a scrubbing brush floor to ceiling. Everything just seemed grimy. Soap dispenser in shower was dirty! Towels had seen better days.
Definitely not good value and not sure what constitutes a 'boutique hotel' - maybe it's the punch mark in the artwork in the room, or in the back of the door?
Breakfast - only served until 9.30am with limited choice although the management will say that it's complimentary so what should you expect
24hrs before departure, I visited reception to ask them to call the taxi transfer company to arrange pick up the next day and got the reply "so why are you asking me, you can use the phone in your room and the call will be charged at 60C". On the day of departure, the reception took the key and did not even ask if the stay had been comfortable and carried on doing whatever they were doing. I've stayed in many hotels and this is down there with the worst of them. Bring back Customer Service where someone appreciates you spending your hard earned money with them.
Upside - the only positive is that we discovered 'Harry's pies' as it's just round the corner on the wharf and we would not have come across the Botanical gardens if we hadn't had to walk through them to reach the city.

“Management Issues”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

I and a group of my family & friends stayed at this accommodation for a weekend in November for my daughters wedding on my recommendation.
The reason I recommended this place was for its convenience, reasonable rates and the quietness of the location.
My husband and I had stayed here several years ago and had no issues BUT THIS STAY WAS A DIFFERENT STORY.

We were not from overseas unless you classify Tasmania (Hobart) as overseas and many of the group have travelled quite frequently both within Australia and Overseas but never have we encountered the rude service that was given by the Management of this place.

The quote re the rooms was given in July which was $121 per night and several emails went backwards and forwards at that period of time ALL very nice and polite.
My Credit card details were supplied at the time and I booked 2 rooms in my name
However 3 days before wedding I receive email to say unless Credit Card details are received then booking will be cancelled????????
AND when we came to pay for rooms guess what the price had increased to $135 without any notification ???????
Amongst the group there were many relatively minor issues but totally unprevoked and totally unnecessary which made the stay quite a joke.
Fortunately we were all there for a more important reason and so we now when thinking back on this experience have many a joke about this place.

Luckily we have a sense of humour and since our stay at this place we look back and laugh at the whole situation as one wonders if its not time for these people to retire from the Hotel business and to get a life.

"FAWLTY TOWERS" is such an apt name

“Ideal location at the right price”

My wife and I booked in for Christmas and although we had a slight problem with our late arrival, we would highly recommend this hotel and will be using it again. Thank you for the unexpected chocolates on Christmas Day.
