“Good value great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

The Mariners Court is an old sailors home that has been refurbished. The hotel is very secure, good beds and clean.Parking at $20 a night is pretty good and parking is available in the street outside at no cost but just watch the restrictions. Some of the bathrooms are a little rough around the edges so to speak but overall a good experience. Continental breakfast is included in the very good value price. We have stayed here several times and the last time ( Jan 2012) the breakfast now included cold meats, cheese and boiled eggs (very european and very nice). This place isnt real flash, but the points already mentioned will bring us back again and again. The cost of $125 a night (special) for a double with brekkie is very very good.Great hotels and restaurants are very close, and what better than pies at Harrys cafe de Wheels a 100 metres away.

“Perfectly located & Great value”

This hotel is really welll located - just 5 minute walk from the Art Gallery of NSW and the Domain and 20 minute walk through the botanical gardens to Circular Quay. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the room was comfortable... not the cleanest or best kept I have ever stayed in, but it was excelllent for the price. The bed was comfy, the room quite large for a big city hotel and the area was very quiet overnight. I would not rave about it - but I would definitely stay there again.

“Perfect location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Excellent location for the Art Gallery of NSW, the Domain, Botanic Gardens. You can get to Circular Quay via this beautiful walk. Travelling solo, I found the Frisco Hotel just around the corner was excellent and super close to the hotel. Another great eating place to sit out the front and watch the passing parade was Sienna Marina (or similar spelling!) Opposite the 'Blue' Hotel on the wharf
I hired a bike in the Rocks with the assistance of the manager, it was easy to get home after that for a shower (and a walk through those divine gardens again) to take off for another activity. I walked up a very steep street behind the hotel to get to King's Cross railway station. You need to take a quick bus ride from there to get to Bondi Beach, too far to walk. A comment :I have read on this site that the walk to the station is 'dangerous'. I found it charming walking past the terraces and just behaved as you would in any large city, would happily do it many times. Wouldn't walk it at night obviously as a solo traveller, that goes for many Melbourne areas too! Final comments, again like others appreciated that it is a non-smoking hotel, the breakfast was brilliant, enjoyed on the terrace each morning with the newspapers. I am very puzzled by others comments re the management, their availability etc. They are available always at the touch of a button or via phone. I felt very safe and secure here, well done to management for such strategies. Will stay there again for sure!

Room Tip: Anything from the 1st floor upwards.

“Value for Money with the works”

My wife & I stayed here for a week before a cruise around NZ & found we couldn't' wait to be back for a couple of days before heading home. Let me start with the staff nothing was a problem even late check-in & made you feel at home from the start. Room has it all en-suite with hair dryer, frig coffee & tea making ,great king bed even a balcony iron & board in room with coin operated laundry on the same floor now that's Value but there's more Breakfast is included Fruit cereal 4 types of bread boiled eggs yo-gets, jams & more even a coffee machine which makes great coffee better than some we paid $4.50 for in town.
Woolloomoolloo is in a valley with heaps of steps but it has lifts in all directions to get to town there's even a travellater from the domain car park to S'nt James station so its a great location for the more senior traveler.
This boutique Hotel helped make my stay in Sydney a great one even if the sun didn't shine.
Thank you Craige & Staff we will be back.

“good sized rooms and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

we had a 5 day stay 2 adults and a teenage daughter. The room was large and the beds were very comfortable which is very important to me. The location was great very close to public transport. It is very quiet for sleeping no pubs or night clubs that can be heard which was pleasant. The street the hotel was located had large metal bars on every window on every home on the bottom levels, so that made me think it was probaly not the safest place in Sydney but its very secure with good sercurity so we did feel safe that was not an issue, it is only a 3 minute walk to Kings Cross from the hotel. The tv bench was so old and damaged, the tv did not have great reception it was old and worn out. There was no wi fi no dvd player, no movie channels just a basic very old tv like what you would find in a 3 star hotel. the bathroom was in poor condition as well it desperate need of renovation, but it was clean. The reception was friendly and very helpful to us, but only manned monday to friday 8am to 7pm. The breakfast was very basic you need to get in early if you like fruit toast, its more of a toast and cereal breakfast with watermelon cofee and tea. It was like being back in the 80's. I would go back again if it was 3 of us as we struggle to find accomadation that don't charge extra for the 3rd person which is annoying as most hotels have 2 double beds but make you pay for the 3rd $50 extra a night this hotel does not charge extra which I really appreciate as $50 a night really adds up. The price is great for sydney if your a family the room we had had a queen and 2 singles. You get a great night sleep its perfect if you touring and need a safe clean place sleep at night with a great location for your day trips.

Room Tip: we had a quiet room on the first floor. from what I could see all the rooms which are 1st floor and...
