I am always shocked when people in the customer service industry are rude to customers. It's perfectly fine if you're not a people person, but choose a job other than being a maitre'd at a restaurant.
I went with a group of girlfriends for drinks followed by dinner. I made reservations and also confirmed them on the day. Because of a mistake on the part of the restaurant, our table was given to someone else. That's fine, it happens. What was appalling was the way the host responded. When I pointed out the mistake, instead of apologizing and trying to sort something out, he became aggressive and confrontational. I had said to him "it's okay, can you sort something out for us given we had a reservation", his response was "I've been calling you why haven't you picked up your phone"...ummmm, excuse me? He also asked me why I had entered through the bar entrance and not the restaurant entrance....again, ummm excuse me? First off, we didn't even know there was another entrance. It's in a weird location and the entrance to the bar is the first entrance and it has a huge sign. How would I know there is another entrance and why would I walk by an entrance that was so clearly marked. Also, they are literally adjacent inside...not seperated at all. The only difference being that the host kiosk is located in the back. I asked him what our options were and he said he couldn't do anything for us. I asked him that given it was their mistake, we had reservations and we were sitting drinking cocktails for almost an hour, could he at least put us on the top of the waiting list, he said no. I asked him to put us on the waiting list (at the end) and walked back to the bar. About 10 minutes later I saw him walking through they bar and asked him how long it would take. His response "why did you turn you back on me and walk away when we were talking". I said "I'm sorry, I didn't realize the conversation was not over". His response "Well, I wasn't done talking and you turned your back on me". At this point he was lucky I didn't turn my back on him again whilst showing him a finger and a hand gesture. Needless to say we left.
Despite serving some really amazing mojitos, the attitude was absolutely appalling, disgusting and unacceptable. I was there to have a fun night with my friends and he was soooo rude that it detracted from the night. I am a patron, I should not be getting yelled at.
I don't usually give bad marks based solely on service, especially when a place has redeeming qualities (ie drinks), but this was so over the top, like nothing I have ever experienced, that this restaurant gets the the worst marks possible. I would not go back, none of my friends are going back and I will tell everyone I know to avoid the place.
