“No ventilation. Falsely advertised.”

Stayed in this hotel from a friend's scoupon voucher. The room was not as advertised:
1) We were provided a standard double room on the ground floor instead of the deluxe room as advertised.
2) There was no bottle of wine upon arrival, as advertised.
3) The following day's breakfast was not as advertised on the scoupon voucher. The 'scrumptious' hot breakfast was simply two fried eggs on dry unbuttered turkish bread and bacon, without any sauce.

In addition to this, the ground floor room (beneath street footpath level) had windows that did not open and air conditioning that turned itself off after an hour, which caused a very sleepless night.

Cannot comment too much on the service, as we simply checked in and checked out the day afterwards. This is not a location if you are sightseeing in Sydney, but rather if you have specific business in the Ultimo area. The rooms are modern, quite clean and well maintained.

Overall, I was dissatisfied with my stay. I have no sympathy for any establishment that collaborates with discount websites to draw business and severely underdeliver on the day. It is only because my stay was free that I did not bother to make a complaint.

“GOOD LOCATION”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Staid here one night with work colleagues.

My room was on the inside of the building. It was removed from the nosie of the surrounding streets and looked out onto the internal courtyard which is quite nice. However a group was sitting in their smoking. They could see straight into my room so I had NO PRIVACY and had to draw the blinds. I was booked into a non smoking room. Unfortunately it smelt of smoke.

Unfortunately 1 of my colleagues had a room on the ground floor on the outside of the building. This was definately not noise free! Sirens, rubbish trucks, passing traffic and drunk people passing by have loud conversations... throughout the night.... subsequently she had little sleep.

It is an old building in a good location. The owners have done some interesting things to funk it up.

Rooms are a reasonable size. Plenty of hot water. Nice and clean.

Like most old buildings you can hear the water pipes in action in the bathroom. Recommend sleeping with the bathroom door closed.

Internet available for $10/day.

Breakfast available from 8 am so not great for business travellers. Cafe looked fantastic, nice design.

No iron in your room. One per floor.

Room Tip: Request a room that is on the inside of the building.

“Great location, excellent service”

Booked this hotel last minute as emergency accommodation because my new apartment wasn't ready yet.

I booked a standard double but was upgraded to a luxury triple. Rahman at reception was really friendly, gave great directions and free wifi!

The rooms were beautiful and clean.

The location is amazing, just a short walk to Chinatown but in a quiet location.

“A little scuffed around the edges, but comfortable & pleasant hotel, conveniently located.”

We discovered this modern-ised ex-pub whilst searching the net for post-SADE concert accommodation.

Their web site made everything look modern & enticing. However, heritage buildings such as this are notoriously expensive to renovate & maintain, so we made allowances for that.

Staff very welcoming & friendly. Undercover parking only 2 minutes walk away & economical for city parking.

Location is excellent for walking to Entertainment Centre, China Town & Darling Harbour precincts, with buses only 2 blocks away for the city itself.

Premium room was quite large with plenty of storage and everything you need. Bathroom small but adequate and clean. Our room (202) was over Wattle Street and noisy with windows open, but room has double glazing and air con, so not a problem when we closed the windows.

We would book this hotel again and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Book early to get a room over Mary Ann Lane (much quieter).

“Nice hotel, location is only suitable for the walking kind”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

Nice hotel, clean room, a bit noise from your top neighbour but otherwise OK.
Locationwise: you would need a good pair of walking shoes to go to downtown Sydney. Public transport is a little bit further away (ca 10 - 15 minutes to the nearest (bus) station.
Not that many restaurants, shops in the surrounding 2 blocks, you have to go a bit further for that as well. But that makes the area nice and quit for a good nights sleep!
