(one thing an experienced waiter should not berate a new member of staff in front of customers, if at all, for not knowing what an affogato was he should teach her what it is and how to make one.)

We booked this through a 5 Star Mystery Deal, and the location was perfect for us as we had dinner reservations at The Rocks, so we were within a 10 minute walk.
The service on arrival was wonderful and fast. Our room was nice, on Level 5, carpet was a bit worn and stained, and the shower could do with a very good scrub. Other than that though the room was very clean and comfortable. The television was quite small, and located in a cupboard to the side of the bed. It did not pull all the way out so we could not see if we were laying in bed, which was annoying.
Room service menu was VERY expensive, which is expected, but to also have a $6.00 charge to deliver it to the room was a bit much, so we opted out of this for breakfast.
The pool and spa were lovely, and we enjoyed a late night cocktail in the bar. Service here was wonderful.
We did had a very enjoyable stay, and while we did book on the mystery deal we were expecting a little bit more for a 5 Star Hotel. Not sure if we would stay here and pay the full rate.

I have stayed at the Amora a number of times over the past few years. The hotel is very elegant and it is nice to have the door opened for you at the end of the day by a friendly porter. The concierge/porter staff are fantastic, but they could teach the receptionists a few lessons in small talk and how to smile. The rooms are good value, the bathrooms are quite luxurious and beds very comfortable. I have dined in their restaurant for breakfast and dinner and also utilised their room service option, the food is generally pretty good but don't expect any special service in the restaurant. Overall my previous stay's at the Amora have always been enjoyable and problem free, my only tip is to request a high floor level. I will definitely be returning to the Amora in the near future, if only for the fantastic concierge service.

Pros: good location close to the rocks and syd harbour,clean, reasonable price deals.

Cons: rooms are a bit dated, not a polished 5 star more a 4 star feel, on a bit of a hill, we were on 15th floor average view, no egg chef on the weekend! The chef in the kitchen would not cook an omelette on a weekend either! Rm service cleaned our rms and didn't leave new towels, staff often took trays away from the Buffett and rather than replacing with a new tray would return 10mins later with a the same tray refilled. Breakfast overall wasn't a special 5 star. Biggest lines I've ever seen at checkout. Slow and not many staff checking people out.

As I said this place is ok but is a very 4 star dated hotel if you are looking for 5 star for a special hotel for a special time in Sydney this is not for you.
