The location of this hotel is its best attribute. The concierge staff were also very helpful but unfortunately overall our stay at the Sofitel Sydney was hugely disappointing.
Our room was very small, very noisy (room next to the lift) and in need of maintenance and cleaning. The TV did not work, there was hair in the hand basin, the walls needed painting and the lifts could be easily heard. Not at all what is expected from a 5 star hotel...it is more like a 3 star hotel.
After complaining about the noise of the lifts, they did put us into a room further away from the lift which was at least a lot quieter which was good. The TV in the second room did work but again the maintenance of the room wasn't 5 star standard.
I would not recommend this hotel, particularly at this price range. There are better alternatives.
