“Friendly Hotel, well located to CBD”

We booked into the Manor House Boutique hotel for a 3 day stay in Sydney with no great expectations, but were very pleasantly surprised. Our room, No 3, had a large sitting room with flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a ward robe, ironing board and bar fridge, not to mention a comfy couch. Our bed room had a king sized bed, flat screen TV and an en-suite bathroom. There was also another bathroom off the sitting room with a toilet and bath/shower and hand basin. The sitting room and bed room have their own air con systems.
Even though this room is at the front of the hotel there was no street noise to mention.
The hotel has a large communal sitting room with cable TV with tea and coffee available for guesta, there is also a computer for guest use, or free wifi if you have your own computer.
The breakfast area is a light and airy atrium with a small pool in one corner. Breakfast consists of cereal, yoghurt, fruit and toast [do it yourself] as well as brewed coffee and tea making, the area is large and does not feel cramped if other guests are present.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars close by for meals as well as a list of take away delivery services. A must try is the Greek restaurant in Oxford street, the lamb shoulder is melt in the mouth tender.
The Hotel is an easy 25/30 minute walk into the CBD crossing through Hyde Park. there are also plenty of bus connections available.
We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again on return to Sydney.

Room Tip: Room 3 is a very nice room, 2 bathrooms and a sitting room plus bed room.

“A little gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

A small boutique hotel, nice stately building and room (we had the hollywood room-2 x queen beds in one room with tidy en-suite), quiet due to being at the rear of the premises. small plunge pool but clean. kids loved it. our room was very good but probably needed a more though clean - bedding was immaculate; probably doesn't need the extra wardrobes-after all does anyone unpack their clothes for short stays! parking is limited (it is sydney!) but we only walked 8 mins to surry hills for tea (BILLS, 355 crown st-superb!). breakfast is supplied although basic. A LITTLE GEM! THIS IS A GREAT PLACE, GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY-WE WILL STAY AGAIN!

Room Tip: read the honest reviews first!

“Great potential but needs some maintenance”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

This sweet old Victorian-era building offers a fantastic location at a great price. Period furniture and high ceilings give it a lovely old world charm.

However, you really do get what you pay for. The carpet is badly patched in some places, sealant around the bath is black with mould in some places, and overall the place needs a good clean. Old and worn can be quaint, however unclean can be uncomfortable.

The most dissapointing thing was that the ceiling in my room leaked all night, luckily just missing the bed but leaving rather a wet patch on the carpet (and possibly leaking through to the room below). The ceiling in the breakfast area also leaked badly, leaving water over the tiled floor.

Room Tip: Avoid the room overlooking the breakfast area as the ceiling leaks.

“Favourite Sydney Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

I stay in this hotel every time I come to Sydney. I found it through wotif.com some years ago when myself and my friends were travelling to Sydney. They stayed in a modern swish (or spew depending on your taste) hotel in Kings Cross and I stayed in this little gem. The staff are incredibly friendly, the rooms and furnishings are vintage inspired. The bathrooms are generous and everything works (which is a plus having stayed in too many hotels with fans, lights and power switches that didn't work). Breakfast was simple but adequate. The front rooms have some noise from the street, but come on .. it's a 2 story building in Darlinghurst .. Love it!

stayed 5 nights ,2 couples,on april 2011.its a small hotel, antique furnishing, comfortable bed,and quiet big rooms.the main attraction is that the hotel is its location- very close to oxford srteet-many shops and boutiques, many restaurants and bars are 5 to ten minutes by walking.breakfast is too modest, and need to improve.
