“Room with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I love this hotel. I have stayed here on quite a few business trips and I have never been disappointed. And if you are swayed by the old 'Position, Position, Position' adage, then you won't find a better hotel in North Sydney. My room on the 7th floor overlooks sweeping views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Lavender Bay - one of the most beautiful harbour views in the world. At night, you gaze on the iconic Luna Park amusement area which is lit up and watch ferries cut their way to Sydney's Circular Quay.
I have never not had a spectacular view of the harbour from any room I have stayed in here. In terms of lay out, the rooms are well appointed, cosy and very clean. Towels are fluffy and bed sheets immaculate. Modern and tasteful, the rooms are comfortable and welcoming and you can eat your dinner from room service overlooking the waters of Sydney Harbour from a small round table.
Windows are double glazed so noise is kept to a minimum but there is a clever design that you can slide the first window across to reveal a small push out window to let in fresh air in if you so desire. The bathroom is a room with a view which I just love - cleverly designed, the bathroom has a full glass panel (but has a pull down blind for privacy if needed) which allows you to look at the Harbour from the bathroom and gives the small but modern bathroom ample light and a unique element.
The mini bar is well equipped and there is not much the hotel misses in providing comfort for a weary traveller. The beds are soft and the pillows dreamy and I received a welcome back card this time around after staying there on many business trips. Nice touch. I always call in room service and the food is very good, on time and well presented. Whilst there is a train line that runs directly under the hotel, this is of little consequence and should not deter anyone from trying this terrific hotel. Staff are friendly without being overbearing and attend to requests in a speedy manner. Harbourvjew North Sydney is undoubtedly well worth the money.

“Ask for the highest floor possible, and not just for the view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed 1 night in this hotel with work. Nice hotel. Good sized room. The bed is very soft and it felt like a giant cloud. Very clean. The mini bar is fully stocked with assortments.

Checking in the hotel employee wanted me to swipe my credit card, and pay for my room myself even though my work had paid everything. Thankfully I had printed out the itinerary that showed this before leaving Brisbane.

Breakfast was very nice, and the view from the room was brilliant.

A tip that I would give would be to ask for the highest possible floor they have. The train line runs directly underneath the hotel. I stayed in room 610, on the 6th floor and every 15 minutes the noise of the train was quite loud.

“Nice Play to Stay in North Sydney!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I spent two weeks at the Harbourview and enjoyed it immensely. The location is nice to reach the bridge, tour around North Sydney, or just relax at the hotel. I had a free weekend and walked the bridge both days to see various places on my own. Hotel staff were very nice with recommendations for meals and places for beer!

Enjoyed the stay immensely.

Room Tip: Get a room higher up in the hotel! Great views.

“Great stay close to transport.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Stayed just one night at the Harbourview North Sydney. This Hotel was very good value. We had a room on the 13th floor looking right out over the Harbour Bridge so the view was spectacular. So close to North Sydney train station, literally a stone's throw. LB's restaurant for dinner that night was excellent. I was very impressed with the bathroom, despite it having the new large exposed window looking into the bedroom, but you can pull down the blind if you don't want your room mate seeing you shower. Other than that the bathroom had great lighting - most Hotels even some 5 star have very poor bathroom lighting and I find a hand mirror is essential to put on makeup, but the harbourview was excellent in that regard. A smallish room, but certainly adequate. I would go here again, hopefully for longer next time. You can hear the trains running underneath the building though as it's situated atop of North Sydney station, but this didn't bother us at all and I'm a light sleeper.

Room Tip: Maybe pick a room high up if you don't like the train noise.

“Great location, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Loved this hotel, with wonderful view of the bridge and harboue. Rooms are spacious, decor modern and new, and much easier to get to if you are deiving in than a hotel in town. We took a taxi into the city and it was about $12 so not far, and North Sydney railway station is right underneath. Highly convenient, but that is also the tradeoff - there is train noise so if you are bothered by that, dont stay here! Sydney trains dont go all night but they do start up early. However, dor me that isia food alarm - after all, here you are in one of the worlds great cities, why would you want to stay in bed?

The restaurant has wonderful harbour views, and great food, though we went around the corner for breakfast, not being fond of the big smorgasbords on offer at hotels. The only other negative was the lifts were slow and if you are in the middle floors you might wait a while as many are full when they stop on the way down. But overall, we loved it and are going back.

Room Tip: Must have a harbour view, it is too good to miss.
