“Great location and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

The hotel has a great location, and i think they should advertise it more as it only a 10 minute walk to Darling harbour, 20 minutes to Circular Quay, and take a right out of the hotel and within 10 minutes or so there is a great selection of restaurants and bars. You can walk everywhere and it is really close to Museum station and James Station.

When we walked in we thought the hotel looked very posh, and the reception area was very nice, but the room didn't seem to equate to the 4star rating. Although it was very comfortable and clean, it was dated and very small. We didn't want a massive room as we spent most of our time exploring the city and only use the room to sleep in, but it would've been nice to have a little extra floor space.

The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The shuttle bus they arranged for us was very convenient and cheaper than public transport, so i would recommend that. They even recommended blue mountain tours and vantage points for the fireworks prior to our stay, and whilst we were there, did everything they could to ensure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay, whilst seeing everything we wanted to.

The hotel was very quiet, even though it was over the new years period and the staff were great, and whilst the location was ideal and was just what we wanted, the room could've been slightly bigger. I would recommend staying here.

“Location and price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

The only thing going for this hotel is the location and price. Step out the door and you're right in the middle of Sydney shops DJs 5 minutes walk away. The rooms are small and the blanket on the bed looked old. We asked for an upgrade to a queen bed but the bed looked like a double. The bathroom was modern and the shower excellent but it was too small for comfort. Overall the hotel is adequate for the price and it's a great location.

“great value for money in city centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This hotel is great value for the money in the city centre. We just loved the old fashioned charm of the place. Room was small but adequate, could have done with a chest of drawers as we had no drawer space, otherwise, no complaints at all. Staff were nice and friendly and food was very good in the restaurant. Everywhere was very clean, glass sparkling, brass poilished and thick deep carpets all over.

“Great location/price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I stayed here with my mother for 2 nights. For the price the hotel is great. The bathroom and room was clean. Nothing fancy. Simple small room with tiny window, no view. But we weren't in the room for that much anyway so didnt really have any issues.
You couldnt ask for a better location. Right next to the shops and darling harbour is a 5 min walk away. The train from the airport is just around the corner as well.
The front staff were very pleasant and accomodating, even offered us free internet!
Definetly not a "boutique" hotel. The rooms are somewhat old and could use some revamping and the beds are stiff. But all and all great value.

“Old world charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

This hotel is great value in the heart of Sydney. There are a few problems with the place - mainly due to things wearing out. While we were there the aircon stopped but they offered us another room. We didn't bother cause it was not too hot but otherwise this could have been a problem. The people on the desk were great and really friendly. The rooms are small!! so don't expect anything grand but for the price and the location it was worth putting up with, particularly since you wouldn't be hanging out in your room all day anyway. It was a hotel where you can still open the windows.

Room Tip: Ask if there is any chance of an upgrade - you might get a bigger room.
