This hotel's location is the only thing it has going for it. The interior hallways and rooms desperately need updated, but the decor was phenomenal compared to the customer service. We stayed here for several months while in Sydney on business, and (with the exception of a few) the front desk staff generally acted annoyed by the presence of customers. You would walk up and stand patiently at the counter, and they would just keep typing at the computer as if you weren't there.
On one occasion, when we returned to the hotel at about 11pm on a Saturday evening, the doors were locked, and since it was dark, we didn't immediately notice that there was a card-swipe box next to the door. There was no one at the front desk to let us in, so we knocked on the glass. The person on duty appeared, waving his arms aggressively and yelling at us to stop knocking. Once we got in, he continued to berate us in a way that was completely out of proportion to the situation. When we asked to speak with the manager, he told us that he was the manager, but he refused to give us his name. We continued to insist that he provide his name, and at this point he told us that he was going to call his friends to "come get us." Of course, nothing came of that threat, but the whole situation was completely bizarre and a little scary.
The hotel's billing system is also horribly outdated and disorganized. There were lots of mistakes in this regard during our stay, but the worst occurred upon checkout. They billed us incorrectly, and didn't discover their error until several days later. Without our authorization, they billed our account for the additional balance. Even worse, the person who entered the payment accidentally typed an additional digit, and as a result, we were charged an amount 10x more than what we owed. It took approximately one week for this charge to be removed from our card.
Room Tip: Choose a room at another hotel.
