I stayed in the hotel during an overnight layover. I was upgraded from to a deluxe room, I had no idea this had happened until I stepped into the elevator and saw the rooms on my level marked deluxe. It was a nice surprise to find a large room with a view straight into the airport (it’s nicer than it sounds).
I was prepared for the $29/24 hour internet surcharge, what I was not prepared for was how bad the connection would be. I had to give up on wireless about five minutes into the session when it suddenly decided not to load any pages, and even with the cable connection I found myself frequently being redirected to the log on/t&c page. Considering the massive premium paid for internet access (which in this day and age should be free- especially in a hotel that likes to market itself as corporate friendly), the level of service was unacceptable.
Room service was fairly quick and the server polite, the item I ordered was only $2 more than if I had gone down to the bar to order (excluding gratuity).
Check in and check out were a breeze. Shuttle bus to and from the airport is charged to your room, no need to pay the driver. If you don’t have many bags and are travelling to or from the domestic airport, save yourself the $6 each way (and the time waiting for the bus) and walk. The concierge said it is about 15 minutes, I think it would actually be quicker than that (I didn’t do it because I had too many bags).
Overall, I found the hotel and rooms perfectly suitable. It is expensive to stay here, unfortunately that is the case with most Sydney Airport hotels.
