“Smoking rooms at Mercure”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

people found this review helpful

I was amazed to find there was ZERO ventilation in this smoking room, with the result that the room stank of smoke and sleep was hard. I realise that as a smoker I can't expect anything better than basic, but a window that opened wouldn't be hard and to ensure zero airing smacks of vindictiveness by management. The room itself was rather basic with hardly any decoration. Staff were friendly, and other areas fine, but....

“Be Wary”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2010

We had booked a privately owned and managed apartment at the Grand Mercure and were just informed that the managing board or someone has changed these from short term to long term rentals only. I am now scrambling to find alternative lodgings. If you are booked for a short term stay, check with your rental agent. The owner we were renting from, or so we have been told, is subject to "legal action' for trying to continue to do short term rentals.

“Superb apartment - managed independently”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2010

Not sure if these apartments are still managed by Mercure. My wife and I booked INDEPENDENTLY with the owner of this apartment:

www.sydneyskylineviews.com

The apartment is very well located - see other reviews, with all transport links nearby, easy to get to the airport (train + tram) and the views are excellent. We were also treated to a firework show in Darling Harbour which we watched havi ng dinner on the balcony.

Sabine, who manages the apartment is very helpfull as are the rest of the family who help out. Nothing too much trouble. The apartment itself is newly refurbished to a very high standard with all you could want including broadband, flat screen TV and Blueray player. Oh, and there's free city centre secure parking underneath!

To be highly recommended.

“Great central location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2010

We arrived at about 07:00 and were checked in immediately allowing us to have a few hours sleep after our long flight from Scotland before hitting the sights. We had a 2 bedroom apartment which we found very spacious, maybe a little tired in places, but on the whole ok.Kitchen was ok for making simple meals, why would you want to cook big fancy meals when you are on holiday? Pool was good, great views over Sydney. There was a Coles supermarket almost across the road for supplies.Best of all was it's location right on Darling Harbour, lots of eating places, within walking distance of Circular Quay & China Town.Only problem I had was being a light sleeper, sometimes traffic was noisy during the night but earplugs solved that!
