“Great location great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

The hotel is in an excellent location being situated right in the centre of the Sydney shopping district and less than 200 meters or so from the St James train station, which is on the airport. Line. The St James station has a lift (elevator) so bags are not a problem. The hotel is located within walking distance to Circular Quay, the Rocks, Darling Harbour, the Botanical Gardens and the Opera House. Despite being very central the rooms are quiet. We stayed in a ‘classic room’ on the 18th floor, which afforded good views over the city to the sea. The room has a refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities and an iron and ironing board. In short everything a four star room should have. The bed was fine. The hotel has a spa and an attractive swimming pool area. The service in this hotel was good. Everything we asked for we received in good time. Although I travel frequently I do not generally write reviews, however the reviews of this hotel on this site are mixed and quite frankly at times a little unfair to the hotel. It is what it is; a good mid priced hotel with an excellent location and good service. This is great hotel for the location and given the price of Sydney hotels, it is a good hotel for the price. I can not of course comment on anything but the Classic room. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a high floor, even if it overlooks Pitt street the views are good and there is little street noi...

“What a beautiful hotel....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We chose the Swissotel because of its location to the State Theatre. On arrival, we were upgraded from a king bed suite to a 2 double bed suite with access to the Executive Club and we loved the "happy hour" which included food and beverages in the Executive Lounge which was overseen by a lovely and helpful hostess. Being right in the middle of the city, we were able to wander through the city and Hyde Park late at night and not be too far from "home". Views are not the best but the whole atmosphere and decor well and truly make up for that. Breakfast was also included in the Executive Lounge and we got there just before "rush hour" and had a relaxed and leisurely breakfast. We chose to park our own car which is at a parking station a couple of blocks away, which wasn't a problem and is cheaper than the valet parking.

“Brilliant hotel - highly recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I stayed at this hotel during a recent weekend personal trip to Sydney - I found it excellent. I am a female in my early 20s and felt very safe in the hotel. It was very clean and stylish. I did not meet one rude member of staff, they were all brilliant - particularly the ladies in the Day Spa. The room was very comfortable and I really enjoyed the mod cons which many other hotels do not offer. Room service was the best I have ever experienced in a hotel - quick and the food was still hot when it arrived (which sadly is not the case in many establishments). Excellent stay and I will stay again!!

Room Tip: Rooms with two queen sized beds are very large.

“secret hotel stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

2 night stay, was bought as a secret hotel special.
Staff were very friendly, great location.
Mattress was so hard and uncomfortable! woke up several times with back pain.
the room had big bathroom but overall the room wasnt 5 star quality.
If you choose to valet park, it costs extra for each night even if your car wasnt taken out during the stay.

“The best hotel roof top pool I have seen in Sydney”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Every time I got to Sydney I stay in the Swissotel, I have stayed there four times to date. The main selling point of this hotel is the rooftop pool and spa. Where you can swim, relax eat and drink in lovely Australian sunshine. The service is smooth and friendly. The hotel lobby and lounges feel modern and have been renovated recently. The rooms themselves are comfortable, an average size for Australia, which is large by European standards, and the pictures on the hotels website are a good representation of the rooms. The rooms themselves start on the 12th floor, so there is always an interesting view, if not the Sydney Harbour veiw.
The breakfasts are generous with a good variety of food on offer. If you opt the Executive Club Lounge, evening canapés with an open bar and breakfast is included in the price, as is a pillow menu in your room.
