“Not so hep”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Morgans calls itself 'boutique' hotel but its more 'antique'. Its located in the uber cool area of Darlinghurst but it could do with serious refurbishment. The rooms were small, dark and dusty. Although they were serviced daily and the service staff was courteous. The kitchen essentials were absolutely bare minimum. Could have done with some more crockery and cutlery. Every time we turned one of the the cooktops the circuit breaker would cut off electricity which we were told would be attended to.The bathroom tiles were broken at one place and there was an earthworm in the bathroom. After which we asked to be shifted. We were staying there for 7 days so would have appreciated a better room. The reception staff were very helpful. Lot of hip eateries around but living between so many kitchens was a cause for concern in case of a fire.
It was quite a walk to CBD and the Quay.

“Decent "boutique" hotel in Darlington.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

This hotel is decent enough -- nothing special as "boutique" hotels go, but quite acceptable and well located if you want to be in lively Darlington area. It's also close enough to most of Sydney's main attractions to be a short taxi ride away, or even a brisk 20 minute walk if you are up to it.
Rooms are small (isn't "boutique" a code word for that?) and decorated in the obligatory black and grey that signifies "cool" these days. The hotel is recently renovated, but the renovation seems to have glossed over parts of the bathrooms, which retain their original bathtubs -- a rather incongruous feature considering that snazzy showers are a hallmark of most "boutique" hotels.
Staffing is minimalist -- just one person at the reception desk, and the front door is closed and unattended after 10pm. You have to let yourself in with your key, so don't lose it!
All in all, it's a convenient place, not as outrageously priced as many Sydney hotels. I would stay there again.

“Close to hospital and eat out coffee bars. Reasonable price.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

This is our second stay in this hotel due to it's proximity of St Vincent hospital.
The rooms are average, handy with own kitchen.
Our second stay is not perfect. There is no hot water in the kitchen sink. Should have this fix or inform guests before the booking.
Mattress is to be desirable. Soft and give backache.
Toilet flushing fiddly in both stays.

“Good Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

I have just been to this hotel and it is in a good location, only 2 mins walk to kings cross and only 10 mins walk to oxford street. The street has some great cafes and restaurants. The Hotel room was very average and i stayed on the third floor . The hotel has free wi-fi, but i could'nt get any wi-fi in my room and was told by hotel staff it only worked on the ground and first floors. I was also told that if upon my arrival, i was coming in after 11.00pm i would have to pay $80.00 to be let in by security. This hotel is not a 24 hour hotel. I think this hotel is worth only $100.00 per night

Room Tip: wi-fi on level one

“Suited us perfectly so we will return!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

The one bedroom apartment was ideal for our seven day visit, with a full kitchen and plenty of room. Even a balcony with views over the street. The decor was a bit dated, and the bathroom had peeling paint, but daily cleaning was always very well done and the bed was comfortable so we slept well. Service from the person on duty was very prompt and helpful when requested. They were even happy for us to move the TV out of the bedroom to a better position in the living room! We will stay there on our next Sydney trip as it is less than five minutes from a train station.
