If you're after a hotel with a nice room, fantastic location, spotlessly clean and well trained staff, that exactly what you'll get and I don't think you will be disappointed.
The plus of staying at the Hilton is you know what you'll get... but if you're after that lil' bit more, try a boutique hotel.
It costs a pretty penny to stay here. Add each day $29 for Internet, $29 for breakfast and $48 for parking, and a mini-bar that charges $6.50 for a bottle of water (Mt Franklin), it is a bit disappointing to see the direction Hilton hospitality is taking.
Great for the business traveller not paying their own bill. Personally, I'll be supporting a boutique hotel next time.
We stayed for 3 nights and found the location very convenient. The deluxe room was a little small but the bed was very comfortable. The fitness centre and pool are great. The house keeping staff were intrusive as they only knocked once and then proceeded to insert their keycard to unlock the door without giving us a chance to respond and go to the door! This is very annoying in the morning especially when we like to sleep-in. Even after we have turned on the 'do not disturb' light, it doesn't seem to mean anything. Becareful of touching anything from the mini bar and outside the mini bar as it will be charged to the room automatically as soon as you lift the item off its designated location, even if you are just having a look! Hilton needs to chill out a little and it would have been a better experience for us.
Arrived at the Hilton after travelling almost 24 hours. From the moment we walked in, the service was fantastic. Since it was well before check-in time, our room was not ready. The clerk apologized up and down for not having a room ready knowing we had travelled all night to get there. She offered to call us as soon as they had one available for us since we did not have international calling plan on our phone, she provided a time we could return and be assured our room was ready. We were able to store our luggage and use the gym changing facilities and pool to get showered and freshened up before heading out to explore a bit of Sydney. When we came back, we were greeted by name and offered our room keys.
Room seemed a bit small but was very nicely appointed. Storage was a bit lacking for us, but I don’t think it would have been too much of an issue if we didn’t have four weeks of luggage to find room for. They the “magic” button on the phone which is one stop shopping for any needs we had during our stay. We needed more towels, coffee and had a couple of minor maintenance issues all of which were attended to within tem minutes of pushing the “magic” button.
We had breakfast in the Glass restaurant each morning. Service here was always prompt and friendly. By our second visit, staff had remembered our preferences and always asked if we wanted the same omelets as yesterday- and accurately remembered what they were. We visited the Executive Lounge on a few evenings for snacks and drinks. They provided a variety of hot and cold foods that changed each night. Here as well, staff treated us great and remembered who we were and showed an interest in our daily explorations.
All in all an incredible stay – if we ever make it back to Sydney, this hotel would be at the top of our list.
Sydney Hilton is centrally located, well maintained hotel. Rooms are smaller than one would expect from a Hilton standard, with bathrooms especially tiny. Glass restaurant is impressing, serves great breakfast. Exec lounge offeres a variety of warm and cold snacks, but only certain hours in late afternoon.
