Santa Fe is best described as a Mexican/Peruvian lovechild. The theme/design of the B&B is unique and first that I have encountered in Australia. I have seen them overseas but not here downunder.
I must confess, I pick character boutique over polish mainstream any day.
Santa Fe is a hidden gem, both in a figurative and literal sense (I will explain later). The rooms are nicely done. It is not fancy or luxurious but it is a B&B. Bed and bathroom is ok but nothing to shout about. We stayed in the Navajo room with the outdoor jacuzzi. It was not our first choice. Just based on pictures alone, we were hoping to book the La Casita room. We were told later when we were making the booking that it had been booked out earlier in the day. This worked out better for us because the jacuzzi was wonderful. It was private, heated and had a great view of the banana plantation. The weekend that we were there, it was raining non-stop so it came in handy.
Breakfast was good. You don't get to choose but you get great variety between days. I personally think Sharon must love cooking because she takes pride in putting out beautifully crafted dishes every morning (to our benefit).
Now back to my earlier literal 'hidden gem' comment. The B&B is tucked away somewhere in a 'residential' area off the main highway. If you are returning from dinner/Coffs Harbour after the sun sets, the turn-off is quite hard to see/find as there are no street lights. So keep that in mind.
Overall, highly recommended but please manage your expectations, it is a B&B not a hotel/resort. Not cheap by B&B standards but worthwhile experience. Great couples retreat.
