“Nice for an overnighter”

Like me youve proberbly gone past the signs and thought that yhis place looks like a stunning five star getaway resort.
If thats what you thought forget it, its just clever marketing and photoshopping.
Now that that disappointment is over, lets judge the hotel from a fresh perspective.
Pros:
Staff helpful well trained.
Plenty of towels.
Renovated bayhroom.
High ceilings in room.
Sandstone foyer.
Beach 2 min walk.
Aircon works well.
Room service.
Cons:
Corridors long without natural ventilation or light. cleaning products smell has built up to high level. Needs a fan or two for a day to clear the air.
Lift does not arrive level with the floor.
No pay tv.
Bathroom renovation, why have i got it both the pros and cons.
Pros is because it has lifted the appearance white tiles all the way to the ceiling with a lovely vertical glass mosiac border.
Cons as i work in tile factory outlet in sydney i notice some design flaws.
Tile size is 200x300mm such an outdated size. Why go this size when you can buy 250x400mm for $8m2 or 300x600mm at $13m2?
Bathroom floor including shower has only one 50mm drain.
Floor tile is a 300x300mm size. Tiler wasnt skilful enough to get the fall, so water runs all the way to the toilet.
Sorry about so much details about the tiles but i do notice things like that.
Summing it all up i would say go there for a night but not a holiday.

“Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

My husband, 2 young boys and I stayed over night on our way to QLD and have to say we were very happy with the service and friendly atmosphere of Opal Cove resort. The kids loved the pool and games room and the food was great. We highly recommend staying here and look forward to staying longer next time.

Room Tip: Awesome view of the ocean if staying on the right side of the hotel.

“BEST FISH AND CHIPS EVER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Lovely place to stay. Have been here many times before with my husband but this time with my daughter and two grandchildren. The service is very good, we are always looked after extremely well. The rooms are lovely and the beds very, very comfy.

We have stayed in the rooms which overlook the carpark, but it really is worth upgrading to an ocean view room. My daughter ate in the restaurant with friends and I had room service.
Can anything be better when you are a bit weary from travelling than having Battered Barramundi, salad and a glass of white wine, sitting on your verandah looking and listening to the ocean. It was lovely. I ordered at 5.30pm which I guess is not the busy time, I had my fish and chips, piping hot by 6pm. Great Service. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay.
The boys enjoyed the large chess pieces near reception, and the games room.

The pool area was very busy, with no life guard. Perhaps in school holidays some sort of supevision could be arranged, (is it just because I came down from resorts at Surfers which have this happening) or is it justified, I'm not sure, but there were a lot of children there without adult supervision. Then again I have been at Opal Cove outside school holidays and the pool is very quiet.

Thanks Opal Cove for another lovely stay, we couldn't have been happier.

Looking forward to next time.

Room Tip: Definately ocean view room.

“Thoroughly enjoyed it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Our family stayed at Opal Cove last week originally as a stop over from our driving trip from Qld to Sydney. We enjoyed it so much we ended up staying an extra night!~

We weren't in the ocean view room but had a room towards the car park. We had booked it as a budget room as we were planning on using the resort as a sleepover and the price was extremely reasonable. We were under no illusions as to the quality of the room yet they exceeded our expectations. There were no hidden agendas with our booking as we were advised that the rooms were being refurbished.

As for some saying the decor is outdated, I'm not sure what they expected but except for some old couches near the foyer, the whole place looked fantastic with expansive ocean views from the expansive glass windows in the foyer. The staff were great including the gentleman running the restaurant (sorry I didn't get your name) who was cheerful and chatted with guests regularly.

Even the food available in the restaurant was great and reasonably priced As for anyone not happy with the pool, it was more than adequate with a slide for the kids and a fantastic spa.

We had spent the previous 8 days in a similarly rated resort on the Gold Coast and it did not compare to Opal Cove in any shape, way or form. We can't wait to be able to organise our next getaway and catching up with Opal Cove resort again.

“A Family Friendly Resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

A warm and friendly welcome greeted us at this resort. The room was bland but clean and the bed was very comfortable. A good breakfast and cherry “Good morning greeted us each morning. The rooms are a little dated and tariff factors this in. This is not a luxurious resort but rather an excellent resort for families.
