“Stuck in the 80's”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2010

Stayed for one night on business. Two bedroom apartment; huge. Lounge room, dining room, kitchen, laundry; two bedrooms. Separate bathroom and toilet. Very plain. No TV in bedroom (who sits up watching TV?). Decor from the 80's- could use it to shoot an old style porn movie. All flatpack wooden furniture and orange-ish purplish soft furnishings. Dim lighting - 8W flourescent light bulbs; just about needed a headlamp to read in bed. Clean enough - kitchen just a bit oily and sticky. Seemed quite well equipped - didn't really cook anything. Bathrooms clean with nice fluffy towels - so all is forgiven. Didn't pay myself as was on business and was pre-paid; but no doubt reasonable value for Canberra. Wi-Fi extortionately expensive - as usual in Australia. In summary - was OK for a business trip.

“good but not special”

The place is dated, it was clean, everything worked. Internet connection way over priced and not worth it.

Overpriced for what is is anywhere else in the world bar maybe London or New York.

Although I clicked recommend a to a friend it wouldn't be my first recommendation.

“OVERPRICED and NO COMFORT!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2010

My husband and recently relocated to Canberra. We had to stay in a furnished apartment until we found a house. We stayed at the Kingston court. Bad bad choice! Overpriced that's for sure. But the worst part is that it is so incredibly outdated ( disgusting furniture, bathroom, kitchen) beyond ugly and dirty! The kitchen utensils/equipment were disgusting. On their website they advertise a swimming pool and half a tennis court. At the moment I can not find the appropriate words to describe how old and dirty they were.We checked out the next day and stayed at the Realm for the same price. The Realm hotel was a different world all together! However, let me say this: Canberra is in general is extremely overpriced and what is considered luxurious here is average in Europe or the States. Canberra also lacks so much life that if you do not have to be here do not come here!
Also avoid at all cost The Diplomat hotel. It's a joke more like a bad outdated motel!
There are some acceptable hotels in Canberra like the Novotel or the Diamant hotel but again very expensive.
Good luck...

“Average accommodation - large & spacious, close to shops & cafes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2010

We stayed at Kingston Terrace Apartments for 5 nights (family wedding in Canberra). The apartment was HUGE although slightly dated it was clean and had everything we needed - well appointed kitchen, laundry, tv/dvd etc. balcony overlooking pool area, secure car parking and helpful reception staff. It is expensive, but we were told that Canberra in general is expensive. The best thing about this accommodation was the location within 2 blocks of Kinstons cafe scene which was great for evening meals, lunches, weekend breakfast and also had a supermarket, bottle shop, pubs and lots of great shops. The apartments are also within walking distance to the Old Bus Depot Markets (Sundays) which I can honestly say is the best craft market I have ever been to (and that is saying alot). The glassworks are also nearby and a great antique centre. In general the apartments are adequate and spacious(great for a family) and you are close to a lot of things that will make your stay fun and enjoyable (most Canberra landmarks are easier to get to if you have a car - we hired one for 4 days). The other tip I have is that if you can visit parliament in session make sure you prebook tickets - we didn't and got in anyway but it was a long wait. (very interesting to see KRudd in person etc etc). Back to the Apartment review - the only negative was that we were there for 5 nights and our apartment was only serviced once in that time (was told it was because we were there over a weekend and also a public holiday?????not acceptable). The last 2 nights of our holiday we had to move to another hotel for a business conference and we really missed the convenient location at Kingston.

“Fine, though with a couple annoyances. And you're paying Canberra hotel prices”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2010

It's clean (though there was a little detritus found in some of the drawers), and there's decent space. That said, it's pretty dreary and out of date (late 80s looking decor). And being Canberra during a major art exhibition at the national gallery (Masterpieces from Paris), it was $220 bucks for a basic 2-bedroom apartment.

I've stayed in plenty worse in the way of Canberra service apartments, but I wouldn't hurry back (I booked this time because we'd left it late and were running out of time and options to find something) -- the main person I dealt with by phone (I think the booking manager) was a little short (excuse me if I'm wasting your valuable time spending money at your hotel, ma'am); the place had no-one on duty after 1pm on weekends (!), and when we called the after-hours numbers, only one was answered by a real person (the same woman who, again, was a little brusque).

One final thing - they ban smoking in the hotel; they may as well ban smoking anywhere on the property to make the ban effective. Our bedroom reaked of foul, cheap, cigarette smoke from about 6 in the morning, apparently because of people smoking on nearby apartment balconies. Really, surely, no point banning smoking indoors, unless you also ensure smoke won't pour through guests' rooms from outdoors, isn't it?

Like I said, in an emergency, I'd be back, but I'd try hard to avoid it.
