“Bliss”

This is my 9th return visit to the Hyatt. I use it as a wonderful R & R break. I have to say that I just love it. The beds are absolutely blissful, so comfortable, the bathrooms divine. Our whole room and bathroom in Paris would have fitted into the Hyatt bathroom. I love the thick towels, the length of the bath so one can lie back and relax. The staff are really nice, and the quality of the housekeeping is superb, take it from one who has been doing the family housework for over fifty years. I've recommended so many friends to the Hyatt and they've loved it. My only quibble - sliced bread at breakfast, and the toaster, auughhh!!!!! There is so much superb bread baked these days, that I would expect fresh crusty baguettes, sour dough, pane de casa etc. And there are no apple pies for afternoon tea, tsk tsk, otherwise as far as I am concerned, perfectamundo., margaret-anne Sydney p.s. if they accepted small dogs (as does the hotel in Paris) that would be wonderful as well.

Room Tip: Try to get one of the brilliant heritage rooms - they are all so special, quiet, spacious, just blis...

“A GOOD EXPERIENCE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed at the hyatt canberra for 4 nights. The room we were given was number 23 in the heritage section of the motel. This room was really nice - there was a hallway into the bedroom where you could store your luggage - the bedroom was a good size, along with a desk, tv with easy working remote, and comfortable chair - and opened out onto a large balcony, with 2 comfortable chairs - an ideal place to read the paper!! Another hallway then left the bedroom and at the end of the hallway where there was a bathroom - the bathroom was large and spacious - in fact we have stayed in motel rooms the size of this bathroom!!

On the whole we enjoyed our experience at the Hyatt - the room was quiet, spacious, the hot water was hot and we felt that we would return again at a future date.

Incidentally we found the bell boys did an excellent job in delivering our luggage to and back from the room.

“I'd stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I've read other reviews saying that the rooms were tired. I would have to disagree, ours was lovely. Enormous, two full sides of window, generously stocked minibar and lovely bathroom. We were in room 127 and the bed and pillows were heaven.
My disappointment was with the restaurant. Felt very 'American' - false luxury. Big on buffet rather than fine dining. Would have been good for a hotel of that size to have both options available. That being said, food was very nice, fresh and service was fine. The gardens and beautiful art deco public spaces are great to wile away the hours.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Room 127 was great - quiet, large and down the back

“Generally pretty good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Stayed at Hyatt as part of renaissance package.

Accomodation was good with a large room provided. Only real problem was the TV control, it was not very cooperative in wanting to change channel. The brand of the tv was "Deco" never heard of it and probably why it didn't work too well
Room otherwise was very clean and week presented

The fitness centre whist providing a full gym and small pool and spa, is pretty dated with a refurb required, the showers in the change room were pretty ordinary.

Otherwise I fully recommend is hotel if staying in Canberra

“Not sure it is up to 5 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I've stayed in a lot of Hyatt hotels and while this one has some nice retro features and is probably good for Canberra I.t is marginal for five stars.
The place is overworked and tired in many respects. The service is ordinary and the rooms, while nice enough are not what you would expect for the price.
Agree with Caitlin B about much of the hotel, and I've stayed here a few times on business so I think I know.
