“One of the best suburban holiday hotels in Moscow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

Stayed here 5 weekedns in a row from middle of June till middle of July 2010 for leisure Most of the rooms have undergone renovation and look very nice and cozy (I know what I am talking about as I stayed here 2 years ago and it was all earlier reviews were complaining about, but not now). The bulk of them are "studios" which in reality are more like junior suits with a nice sitting area. Recoomend you go for this type of room when you book as "standards" are half the size of "studios" and are not much cheaper. Unfortunately all rooms are smoking, but the staff was very helpful in letting me look at several studios untill I found the one without any smoke odor (this was provided during all my stays if I askd for it!). For me the biggest highlight of this hotel is their big size indoor swimming pool which opens up into a spacious terrace for sunbathing with sunbeds and chairs and a view on wooded alley and loans with flowers. They have several restaurants which offer indoor and outdor dining. My favorite was the one at the golf club, its outdoor terrace, but recently they put an ugly plastic curtain to seperate members' area from where non-members can sit. Apart from being ugly it destroyed the view on the golf course. Sports snackbar is actually a full style restaurant, also has an open terrace and best air conditioning inside (great if you got too much sun). An harp plays during beakfast (from around 09 am till 11 am on weekends) in the main restaurant and the choice of food is really wide (smoked salmon was my favorite). One secret about food that I myself learned about only last weekend. If you are on a budget you can go to a staff canteen which also serves guests. I checked it out. No thrills, frills, veiws or harps. Basic self-service, but lunch or dinner will cost you from three to ten US dollars. I do not play golf, so no comments on their 18 hole golf course except that the scenery is very beautiful. A 4 kilometr (around 2.4 miles) pedestrian/bicycle path goes around it trough a pine, berch and fur tree wood and at times you feel like you are in the middle of Siberian taiga: these trees are really mighty, healthy and magnificent. And what an inspiring fragrant fresh wooden scent!
On hotel's territory there is plenty of other things: a big pond where you can swim (not fo me) and take a boat ride, a sand beach, volley ball, tennis, basketball and playground for chidren. A night club offers karaoke. There is also a spa with Gurlain treatments.
Highly recomend this hotel for those who want to spend a relaxing weekend or week in comfort near Moscow. But check first if they have any corporate parties on the dates you plan to come. There were a couple when I was there and it did not bother me at all. However, I heard that sometimes these could be events for up to 3,000 people. This could be a differnt story.

“golf hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2009

This hotel is located outside Moscow in nice relatively fresh-air location. It has one of the few nice golf courses in Russia. Otherwise, nothing special...

“The place NOT to be..”

DO NOT stay at this hotel unless you really have to. I stayed at the country club for 2 nights for a conference, luckily the company paid the entire stay but it was still a big disappointment. The rates are really overpriced considering what you get. My company had to fork out a ridiculous amount of money to organise this conference and received no help whatsoever from the staff. We had to set up the conference room and even move chairs around.

I can think long and hard but I don't have anything positive to say about this hotel. I was staying in a delux room which was really spacious and the decor was ok but I have seen what the standard rooms look like and they are quite simply apalling. Scratches on the walls, dated furniture, boiling hot, beds you sit on and your bum ends up on the floor, you name it. I would be interested to know how they got a 5-star rating...

The things I hated the most: I found hair in my food, the building looks like a council estate, the staff don't speak English at all, wifi internet was expensive and very unreliable, it takes about 3 hours by taxi to get there from Domodedovo and 3000 ruples. The chairs in the conference room and restaurant are stained and dirty...

I won't be rushing back!!

  • Liked — heated floors in the bathroom
  • Disliked — everything else, especially hair in my food

“Totally ghastly”

Do not go to this hotel unless you are at a Conference. If you go here as part of a conference - then bad luck !
Now run totally by Russians there is no idea of courtesy or service to the paying customer.
When we arrived in a small group (booked via hotel website) at 8pm at night (it took 3 hours by car from city centre even though it is 28km) all restaurants were closed due to a conference function.
The only opportunity to eat was at the lobby bar where the music from the conference function was so loud you could not speak.
GET THIS - there was a lady at the lobby bar with a little dog who was walking up and down the bar eating the peanuts - the bar staff thought it was hilarious !!!!
Rooms are small faded and pokey. The facilities were once good but now faded.
Watch out the scrambled egg at breakfast smells of fish

be afraid, very afraid

“NOT a Le Meridien”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2007

We stayed with friends at the hotel in August 2007 to celebrate a birthday. We live in Moscow, so were well aware of its proximity to Moscow city. And that's just what we wanted. To get out of town for the weekend. Unfortunately, that's the only thing this hotel has going for it. Our room was very under-par for a 5 star hotel. Stained carpets, stained sofa, everything very shabby. There's an apartment block on the site which looks like a Moscow suburb Soviet residential area. And the sports complex is lacking in architectural niceties and decent equipment. The management didn't tell us that two restaurants (the two best) would be shut on the Saturday night for a wedding and a golf tournament celebration, so we ate Saturday night at the Sports Complex restaurant - extremely disappointing. We booked the room on the Le Meridian global website and were quoted a room price in USD. When we checked out, that rate had been transformed into "currency equivalent" - a Russian trait which equates neither to USD nor to Euro. Their "currency equivalent" is set at 30 rubles per CE. So that meant that, instead of 285 USD we were charged 285 CE which works out at 327 USD per night. The lounging area outside the indoor pool for sunbathing is tiny, despite all the space. The area housing filtration systems and other mechnical necessities for the area is situated right next to the pool lounge area, so it looks like you're sunbathing next to an industrial complex. And the outdoor pool is no bigger than a plunge pool. All together a very disappointing experience and one which we will not repeat. It certainly should not be a Le Meridien brand hotel. And if it's 5 stars, then that's 5 Russian stars. Basically a 3 star European complex.
