My husband and I just returned from our first time in Aruba. Neither of us are all-inclusive type people, so we wanted something that allowed us to be more self-sufficient. The reviews are true. Paradera Park was a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful grounds, garden and pool. The suites are well-equipped and spotlessly clean., It was great to have use of a cooler and beach chairs (some places can charge up to $30/day for this stuff). Debby and Henk were so helpful with anything we needed, from directions to fax services. (Debby also makes some lovely jewelry!)
Yes, you'll need to rent a car, but you know what? You WANT to rent a car in Aruba, otherwise you won't see most of the island (or you'll spend a ton of money on cabs/bus tours)
Paradera is so centrally located, it's a quick drive anywhere you want to go.
Best of all, Paradera Park is a FRACTION of the price of an all-inclusive (even with buying food, and renting a car).
Helpful tips:
- Don't shop at the closest grocery store (it's expensive and the selection is kind of crappy) go down the road to Ling and Sons.
- Go for dinner at the Aruban Chef! Delicious!
- If you want to see more of the interior of the island, (and you like horses) go horseback riding at Rancho Ponderosa. There is truly nothing more thrilling than galloping along the beach with the surf crashing! (also you get a $10 discount if you drive yourself rather than having them pick you up)
Wonderful time! Can't wait to go back!
