I am not sure what other reviewers were expecting for bottom dollar prices, but I found this to be precisely as described. Clean, quiet, not easily accessed from the road (though it DOES state that when this place is googled or when you readits description on the travelodge website), straighforward 'motel' style bed and bathroom accomodation. Perfect to break a journey or as a short stopover - lots of great gastro pubs within ten minute drive. Does exactly what it says on the tin!

We booked because of the £29 offer - I have to say that if I had paid any more that this I would have been disgusted!
To enter the hotel you have to follow the signs for a desolate service station - there is literally nothing there. The room smelt of damp and made me a bit wheezy, the hotel could not be anymore unloved by the travelodge chain.
I would however say that the nightmanager was lovely, and really helpfull

We booked a room here as we were attending an event close by and the deal seemed good at £29.00 per room having been dropped from £70.00. All I can say is thank god we didnt pay the full price. We arrived after 9pm - the first problem we encountered was that this place is not lit up from the road side and there is only a very small slip road to got off a very busy A14 - my dad who was behind me almost got shunted by truck - the travelodge itself is almost hidden by a disused garage which you have to drive through to get to it. We then had to wait around in an unmanned reception area for what seemed like an age before the receptionist appeared - once she had arrived she was very helpful and actually one of the only good things about the place. On making our way to the rooms we were instantly met with a horrific mouldy/foisty smell along the corridors. Our rooms faced out onto the main road and it was very noisy as the A14 is a busy road. The rooms were as expected for this kind of establishment in the way of lay out and space. However, if it wasnt for the fact that the sheets and towels were clean I would have left immediately. The carpets in both rooms were filthy and stained, the bathrooms were very smelly, in a state of disrepair with mould and unidentified substances growing up the walls, the grouting around the tiles was black, the taps rusty with rust stains dripping into the bath, the shower surround was just dirty and rusty. We decided to stay only because it was getting late and we had a toddler and a young child with us but I will never stay here again. Please do not waste your money unless you are absolutely desperate - this is by far the worst place I have ever stayed.

This was a typical Travelodge, cheap and cheerful, clean but basic rooms, but that is fine for us. We have stayed in worse places. The staff were very polite and helpful, however the location of this place was beyond belief. It is one of many on the A14 but don't try to find it in the dark! It is just off the Swavesey slip road, behind a disused petrol station (that now does hand car washes) and if you blink you will miss it - in fact I did, twice. The thing is, you are on a one way dual carriageway so each time you miss it you have to go up a mile and turn around, back a mile and turn around! Getting back onto the A14 from the hotel was a nightmare - the traffic (heavy lorries mainly) was hurtling down the road and you have about 50ft to get back in the traffic. I shall have nightmares about this A14 for years.
