“airport hotel with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2010

We slept at the Hilton because it was close to the airport and our flight left early. We arrived in the evening and checked-in with no problem, but also we didn't get the notice that we, as accepted before online, were upgraded to a bigger room due to its availability. So we were suprised when we entered the room with its two TVs, jacuzzi tub, ... and the nice view over the plain that you can also enjoy from the pool. But I was even more suprised when I heard that the hotel had no Wi-Fi in the rooms but I had to use a small 50cm cable which forced me to sit at the desk instead of relax on the couch or bed. A little later we tried to get PayTV but the remote didn't work so we ordered a new one and the replacement came quick but also didn't work. We were told that we would recieve a different TV in order for it to make it work and another hour later, when asking for it again, we were called back and simply told that PayTV wasn't available at this moment. To me this sounded like a bad excuse not to go through the pain and changing the equipment. Anyway. We also went to the restaurant, both for dinner (due to a lack of alternatives) and breakfast, which was written to be available from 6:00am on but in reality isn't before 6:30am. Luckily no one cared when we picked the not yet finished buffet but also no one told us that the buffet is not the breakfast that is included in the upgrade that we haven't been told about before. So we ended up paying that one extra. Anyway, the rooms are clean, they don't seem to be used that much. That could also be told from the smell of the water when I filled the jacuzzi tub. The beds are comfortable and after a good night sleep we checked out and catched a free hotel shuttle to the airport.

“Nice and quiet hotel with a great pool area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2010

We stayed at the Hilton Villahermosa for two days in february as we were attending a wedding party in the area. The hotel is situated just 5 minutes by car from the airport and they provide complimentary shuttle service so make sure to make a reservation and let them know which flight you are arriving with. We had booked an executive room and got a nice comfortable room facing the pool area. In room amenities included free wifi, coffee maker, Hilton robes etc. Room was quiet, clean and beds were comfy. Even though we were on the executive level, the lounge was not open during our stay. We decided to go for a margharita in the hotel bar after we checked in but had to ask for it as it is located half a floor below the lobby level, behind some large aquariums. Not a bootle of booze in sight as you expect the entire bar wall to be covered with spirits like in any bar... but obviusly they had them all stowed below the bar desk. Anyway we got a margharita worth the name from the very friendly and chatty bartender.
Breakfast was superb. They have at least one waiter per table so don't expect to get anything for your self from the buffet. All kinds of hot breakfast food, assortments of local fruits, yoghurts, meat stews (!) pastries and of course any eggs or waffles on request.
The pool area was very large and well maintainded with three pools and a jacuzzi. The view over the quiet lush area sorrounding the hotel was very relaxing.

Most of the staff did not speak english very good, but as I speak spanish we never had an issue with it. However the service level among the staff was very high and very friendly.

Hotel is a few miles from town so the location is'nt perfect for an evening stroll to find a local bar or anything. But as a hotel it was very good in general and we could not ask for more taking into consideration rates are around a hundred bucks a night.

“What a great place to say and eat.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2009

After travelling from Toronto and transferring from Mexico to Villahermosa which took more than 16 hours. What a surprise when I saw a gentleman holding a sign with my name on it. We were wisked away to the hotel. Great rooms, robes in the room, great shower. Had a late dinner. The food was exceptional. The breakfast the next day was just as good. Pricey but you don't mind when the service and place is so great.

“2 great stays”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2008

Stayed here twice in 2 years. Each time I enjoyed my stays. The pool is great. The restaurant wasn't bad, and I must say, the sopa azteca was really great! Hotel lobby decor is very nice, rms as well. Love the shower.

  • Liked — Comfortable rooms with great airconditioning!
  • Disliked — The peacocks making noise in garden woke us up early

“What a disappointment!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 April 2008

The hotel itself is quite nice, the rooms are comfortable, the pool is fantastic, and the restaurant was good (though expensive).

Our problems started with check in... we were given a room right across from the construction the hotel is doing (despite the fact it's a large hotel, and plenty of other rooms were further away). We asked to switch, and they quickly obliged. Then we ran into a bigger problem: bugs. Lots and lots of bugs... little ones, big ones, all of the above. I couldn't count how many beetles/cockroaches we killed or had to throw away b/c they were already dead. One could argue that we should expect this problem b/c the hotel is in the middle of the jungle... but we stayed in hotels in other parts of Chiapas (one of which was only USD 40) and did not have this problem. The food we ordered for room service was almost inedible -- a big disappointment following the very good food at the sit down restaurant.

  • Liked — Very close to airport
  • Disliked — Bugs!
