Born in Villahermosa I go there on christmas holidays and I consider the hyatt in Villahermosa to be the best hotel in the city, with competent staff, and recently remodeled furniture and bathroom that look great and are quite comfortable, good TV reception and good food too, including local dishes yoy should try !!although a bit expensive. Hotel is near the Malls, and planetarium, and across the street from La Venta Museum and Park, far away from Downtown Villahermosa, but there arent many hotels downtwon actually. Be warned Villahermosa hotels are not cheap at all!, and if you get a deal through the internet Hyatt looks like the best choice, for luxury and all the services an american tourist may look for not considering the new Quinta Real (new chain of luxury more expensive hotels in Mexico) that just opened (havent been there yet) or the Hilton, brand new hotel, located outside Villahermosa all the way over the Airport.
By the way, being a local I can tell you, look for the "Rodizios" a Brazillian all the meat you con eat top of the line restaurant, all sorts of brazilian cuts, with great salad bar, mmmh for sea food aks for "La lupita", and for incredible Icecream and the most refreshing coconut water ask local taxi cab driver to take to you to "Nieves LA POLAR", going towards downtown Villahermosa.

Staff very nice, bathrooms are great, room OK, but I wouldn't stay here again just because it is out of the way and there is no place to eat except the expensive resturant. On the other hand you can walk to Parque la Venta to see the Olmec heads and if you don't mind a nice expensive meal, the hotel is fine and has a decent pool.
Villahermosa isn't a touristy place but if you are there, as we were, to fly out in the morning, I would at least pick a place in the center of town so you can walk outside at night and see the local downtown area "Zona Luz" with its shops, restaurants and cafes.
For a business traveler who just wants to feel like they are not really in Mexico, it's fine.

staff nice, rooms are okay, but when the neighbour is noisy or the tv is on its a little bit too loud.
we payed incl. taxes about 105 usd, to much for mexico

I stay here at the Hyatt pretty often. It is a really good quality Hotel and the restaurant has excellent food, although a bit pricey. The rooms are great and the service is excellent.
