We stayed here the night that we got married. My husband had booked it as a surprise for me but had to phone ahead on the day to apologise that we wouldn't be able to check in beforehand and would arrive quite late. Unfortunately this did not seem to go down well and after a wonderful day we were greeted in our wedding finery by a man who declined to even speak to us as he showed us where to sleep.

The next morning (Sunday) we came down at 9:45 and were told that a cooked breakfast could not be provided. The following morning we came down at 7:15 to find no one around to check us out and no breakfast available at all.

The house is unmistakably beautiful and the guest book had plenty of satisfied customers' comments. It was a pleasant location for our first two days as a married couple, but as sorry as I was to keep the staff waiting, I felt that snubbing a woman in a wedding dress was a touch unkind.

We stayed for a week in one of the adjacent cottages which had a large lounge/kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The cottage was very clean and very good value for money. Marco, the owner of the hotel, was a very friendly and cordial Italian who made us feel very welcome. We ate at the hotel on one of the evenings and had an excellent three course vegetarian dinner. The hotel in is in beautiful grounds which has a large chess set, which was fun to play with. Overall an excellent place to stay.

A very great stay in Cornwall, the whole family enjoyed it! I only wish that we had stayed longer!!
