“great for a relaxing holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We stayed at the Aquis in late september and we had a really great time. If your looking for lively entertainment look elsewhere because this was the only downside to the holiday but having said that it was one of the main reasons we choose Aquis.
Yeah the wasps are bad and coming from someone who hates the little blighters i got used to them. The staff all throughout the Hotel are a real credit to the Hotel from the cleaners to the reception were always very helpful and accomandating. The food was really excellent (and thats coming a typical sausage and mash English guy lol) there was plenty of variety every day. Hoping to go back to Aquis this year.

“Great Hotel - Poor Entertainment (and seemed to be aimed at only Germans)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

people found this review helpful

My lady and me went to this hotel May 2011 and it was a last minute deal.
Overall, it was a great holiday, apart for the entertainment, which was poor and catered mainly for Germans... There was only one pool table at the pool bar and one inside in a small games room. There was also only one pool table at the beach bar. Considering the number of appartments in this complex, i think they should have a much bigger "games room" with a FEW pool tables, air hockey and a few video games machines etc... the usual type of things... There isn't really anything near by(walking distance), outside the complex that you can go to for other entertainment, so you're pretty much stuck with sitting in the bar or waiting to use the pool table, which is fine if you are happy to sit at the bar every night! The odd time there was something going on, it was not very entertaining - Greek Dancing (which we thought would be great) was quite poor! - (Sorry George, but being honest here!!)
For daytime, a walk into the village is good, but alot of businesses closed and buildings half built - sign of the times!!
The beach was clean and is just next to the complex... There is boat and jet ski hire and prices are reasonable, but this is independant form the complex. (Fabian the LABRADOR will rent you a boat!! ;-) ...) The one we hired was great, with a 30hp engine, which was great for exploring the coast line and a tour out to a small uninhabited island.. Be careful not to get too close though - Lots of rocks in shallow water around the island!
The accommodation (appartments) were clean and towels changed every day apart from Sunday, but the AC requires a fair bit of messing about with to get it to work. Also be prepared for a noisy stay - There is no sound insulation in the walls or floors and you hear every foot step and every voice, but at the end of the day, its a clean place to lay your head and get washed and this is to be expected in a complex of this type. The appartements were renovated in the past couple of years, so you would have thought they would have put some sound insulation in when doing all the other work, but cost was obviously a factor!!
Drinks were plentiful (all-inclusive) and the food was great with most days having something you would like. George (the manager) was a great guy and always took the time to chat...
Overall, great holiday apart from the entertainment (or lack of it)... If this was sorted out, it would deserve 5 stars...
Would we go back??? YES, but please sort the entertainment out and cater for Brits as well as just Germans!! WE LIKE ENTERTAINTMENT TOO AND I'M SURE THE GERMANS WOULD LIKE SOMETHING BETTER - I THINK IT'S POSSIBLE TO PROVIDE ENTERTAINMENT FOR ALL WITHOUT AIMING IT AT ONE GROUP!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the pools - The Apartments to the left of the Restraunt were nice!!

We would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, and truly value your feedback! We certainly appreciate your comments concerning our food and beverage section as well as for your overall positive holiday experience with us. However, we would certainly like to highlight your comments that can be a point of improvement for us.

As we are already preparing for our new season, we would like to reassure you that we have already passed your comments with regards to the games room and our entertainment program to our operational department and they are in the process of thoroughly reviewing how these areas of the resort can be improved.

Our entertainment section is one of our priorities for your guest holiday experience. At this level, we would like to express our regret for your disappointment with regards to our animation program. Every year we accept thousand of guests in Aquis Sandy Beach, from the majority of the European countries and not only from Germany or England. On these grounds, we aim to provide the same level of international entertainment to our guests regardless their nationality background.

With regards to your comments concerning our family rooms, rest assured that we have already informed our operations department. We always advise our guests to refer to the hotel management during their stay at the resort as they can instantly solve various issues that might occur and assist you in having an even greater time with us. Aquis Sandy Beach is one of our largest resorts and we accommodate thousand of guests, and families and certainly it is a quite vibrant and active environment throughout the summer season.

Once again we would like to thank you for your extensive and helpful feedback. We are really hoping to see you once again in one of our resorts in Corfu, Crete or Kos.

“Nice especially for wasps”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Went with friends for my birthday, we know it was nearing the end of the season but there was no entertainment on at all.

I hate wasps and they were everywhere, swarming round the bars and pool and I got stung on my first day :(

There was plenty of choice for food and drinks but with the air con so high in the resturant the food was cold by the time you were eating it!

Went on an organised trip through Thomas Cook, the Corfu expirence which was not worth the money. There was no food included and the hotel refused to put packed lunches up.

All in all that will be my last trip to Corfu.

We are certainly disappointed to read that your holiday experience in Corfu was not up to your expectations. We certainly appreciate and always encourage our guests to send us their feedback as it is one of the most important procedures in order to reach a higher level of quality and to improve our services and our facilities.
Rest assured that your comments concerning our entertainment as well as the dining area have already being thoroughly addressed internally with our Operation director. Concerning especially our entertainment, we would like to reassure you that our animation program was operating without any cancellations throughout the summer season until the day of the hotel closure, depending always on the weather conditions. Certainly, we cannot be sure on the exact period of your stay, however during the last 2 weeks of October the weather conditions were really bad and various activities had either to be cancelled or to be transferred into an indoor space when possible.
We are really sorry to hear that you were stung on your first day of our vacation. The issue with the wasps is a natural phenomenon, only during a specific time of the year and is not different that in other countries or places that have such a natural magnificent setting as Corfu. We always try to prevent wasps from annoying our guests, only with natural ways; however we cannot eliminate entirely this natural phenomenon, especially without causing an environmental imbalance.
With regards to your comments over Thomas Cook, we certainly cannot comment on an excursion that was not organized by us nor associated with us.
Once again we would like to thank you for your constructive feedback. Despite your dissatisfaction, we really hope that we will have the chance to welcome you once again in Crete, Kos or Corfu.

We stayed at the Aquis from 17th to 24th oct.2011.Not the best time to stay due to wasps, but the staff can,t help that.Food seemed ok.,but on return to the u.k.My wife deleloped salmonella, wich we we,re told by doctors, was contracted in Corfu.Has we hadn,t eaten anywhere else it must of been the Aquis. She was seriously ill, including a 10 day stay in hospital. On one day ,one of our party almost ate raw chicken (good job her dad had spotted it) .We suspect my wifes salmonella was from mayonaise,so be very careful!!!!
