We only stayed here one night as we have family nearby but there were too many of us to fit into the house!
The enquiry and booking process was smooth and efficient. At reservation we requested that any feather items were removed from the room due to my husband's asthma and this was duly done.
We didn't really get to see or experience much of the hotel or its facilities but the bar and restaurant area looked pleasant and cosy, and the outdoor space around the rooms also looked very nice. There were sofas and chairs under verandas etc which would be very pleasant in the warmer weather I am sure.
We were given a nice welcome and shown to our room fairly promptly and the lady gave us a bottle of water and two glasses. The room was quite spacious yet cosy, clean with furniture and fittings well maintained. However, there was a faint musty smell although no evidence of damp or mould in the room or bathroom. I did also notice the musty smell again during the night in the bed but it seemed perfectly clean. The huge bed was comfortable and the sheets clean and fresh.
Being wheelchair accessible, the room was completely on the level, including the bathroom/wetroom and the shower was huge! There were also a couple of handrails and a folding seat in the shower for those less-abled. Although there was just a curtain and no way of stopping the water spraying over the whole floor of the wetroom, it did actually stay in the shower area which was good! The shower was pretty good and with good pressure. My only criticism is that the water was not very hot, even on the hottest temperature setting. I do like my showers fairly hot, but this was barely warm - I think perhaps there is not enough head pressure as when I took the head out of the holder and lowered it, the water did become hotter. So if I'd have sat on the folding seat and had my shower, it probably would have been OK - but I'd rather stand!
The hotel staff were quite flexible in the morning when I was not feeling very well and didn't want to check out at the specified 10.30 am, they seemed happy enough to extend the check-out time a little and with no extra cost.
I think the cost of the rooms is a little high given the type of hotel and the location. It is very well presented and there is a pool and so on, but for over £100 per couple B&B, I think this is a bit steep. But saying that, if you want to stay in this specific village, there is not a lot of choice!
Overall, a pleasant stay in a charming and well-presented country hotel. I'd be happy to return.
