I suppose the first surprise is that this is not set in the rural location you may imagine from the website photos. It is, in fact, in the middle of a trailer park which, for me, was slightly off putting. Though the staff are brilliant and the food quite acceptable, the rooms are dated and the bathrooms seem like they need a good clean as well as a toilet seat! Breakfast is in the restaurant upstairs and for me, the major two things were... instant coffee and the yellow rose at our table was dead and looked like it should have been chucked away or cremated a few weeks before. Sorry but I won't be returning here.

We had our family Christmas meal here in December and the food and service were excellent - an experience not replicated at some other places around Christmas time when service and quality seem to dip. The food was delicious, cooked and presented well. There was plenty to choose from and we felt it was very good value for money. The beef in red wine was out of this world! We will certainly be back.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Batemans Mill Hotel. The rooms were very well presented and spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. The bar area was very relaxed any welcoming and the restaurant upstairs was good if you wanted something more formal. We ate at the hotel both nights and the food was excellent, the breakfast included was also excellent and made to order. Our two dogs were also with us and they were allowed in the bar area when there was no food being served! The staff were great, in the hotel, bar and the restaurant at breakfast! All in all a very pleasant few days and would highly recommend the hotel and the area. Great for getting to places like Cromford Mill and Chatsworth House. Thank you very much for making our stay so pleasurable!

Our first recent visit to Batemens Mill for lunch was a very pleasant experience.
Our choice of starter was the homemade soup and deep fried prawns with sweet chilli sauce. Both were well cooked and well presented. We both chose the brisket for our main course. This was served with mashed potato and a perfectly cooked selection of fresh vegetables. The selection of desserts looked very interesting, but as our starter and main course were of such generous proportions we had to give the third course a miss ! The service was extremely good, the staff very pleasant.
We will definitely be paying the Mill a second visit in the very near future.
