We stayed here for only one night when Hobart was pretty much booked out. This seemed to be a problem in all of Tasmania the week we were there. The room we got at $120 for the night was a family room, but we only used the double bed, but it came with bunks as well. The room was nothing flash, but bed was comfortable and we had a City View - however this also meant we were in the rooms closest to the highway. So I would suggest if noise is a problem you may wish to give up the view. Room was basic, bathroom old but clean. Heating was via electric oil heater. But for us there were not alot of other alternatives. We chose to dine in Bellerive in a great little Asian Cuisine BYO which was great as it was close without having to travel back over the bridge. I would stay there again, but only if my favourite Hobart hotel was fully booked.

My hubby & I stayed at the City View Motel recently and had stayed there a few times before. I was shocked at how much it had changed. It was freezing in Hobart that night, there were no electric blankets on the bed, there was a two bar oil heater that didn't do a thing for the heating, no extra blankets anywhere. I had to go to reception to ask for some light bulbs as none of the lamps had any in them.
There was wet towel in the fridge where it had been defrosted and not taken out.
I asked reception about electric blankets and was told they don't have them anymore.
It certainly is run down and not cheap either, never again..

We stayed 3 nights and chose the City View because it was away from the noise of the CBD and we could park our hire car just outside our room. The room was basic and a bit dated but clean and had everything we needed in it. The bed was very comfortable and as the motel is not directly on the highway we had a good sleep. The only thing we would have liked was room service for breakfast, as they only offer a continental breakfast in the restaurant for $10 each.

The location was good for getting to the airport on our day to depart and it was only a short drive to the CBD. We chose to eat a few nights in Elizabeth Street, North Hobart where there is a good variety of restaurants (La Porchetta's was good). If we go to Hobart again we would most likely stay here again.
