“Paradise of dreams”

We arrived at the riverside retreat for our week stay and were overwhelmed with the beauty of the location. The pictures really don't do justice to the surrounding rainforest and the crystal clear creek pool a few steps away. The decor and beautiful flower arrangements really made us feel comfortable and relaxed during our stay. Carmen was the icing on the cake for our stay with her friendly and helpful nature, spending her time to get to know us better and suggesting activities to suit our individual tastes. There are several restaurants with delicious menus and other activities such as nature walks, all within a few minutes drive of this secluded getaway.

We have already been talking of returning to this stunning retreat again in the near future. For now we will have to make do with the pictures and memories of a week in paradise.

“Unforgettable, due in part to Carmen”

Cookatoo Hill retreat is a stunning, exclusive establishment with beautiful views and well appointed, clean cabins. You really feel one with nature.
Carmen was a friendly, knowledgeable hostess who helped arrange excursions and educated us about the local area including plants and animals. Breakfast was delicious - fresh, local tropical fruits and homemade croissants and jam.

While there check out coppercreek rainforest walks with Pru, D'arcy of Daintree 4x4 tours and Whet restaurant. All outstanding. If seeking an authentic, tranquil and personalized break, you will not be disappointed. This place is a must.

“Unforgettably Special Stay”

We stayed at Cockatoo Hill in October whist we were showing a friend from Melbourne around the Daintree. The experience was absolutely delightful. This is a beautiful place in every sense and the view of sunrise from our rooms was so special.
Our room was very clean and comfortable and the bed is such a gorgeous feature of the room. Breakfast of tropical fruit, croissants, jams and cereals was divine.
Carmen herself is as much a part of this beautiful experience as every other element. Her warmth and graciousness some how turns what would already be considered a truly wonderful stay into something unforgettable just by her presence.
Thank you dear Carmen. We are longing to return! Natalie, Stuart and Ed

“Perfect relaxed honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

This was the first stop of our honeymoon, perfect getaway after the stress of the wedding. Carmen was welcoming and warm and happy to share her knowledge of the area and not a bad word to say about anyone (although her shrugs spoke volumes!)

The only food served is breakfast, which was lovely. But this meant we had to fend for ourselves the rest of the meals which was interesting.... as the dining options were centered on backpackers cooking. But that is hardly Carmens fault!

Not having tv in the rooms was a lovely change. Being woken by the birds was fun. And that uninterupted view of rainforest out to the Coral Sea was breathtaking.

Room Tip: There are only 4 or 5 rooms, so I'm tipping they are all good!

“The best place we have ever stayed”

I'm very late in writing this review, but really had to say how wonderful our stay was at Cockatoo Hill - Carmen is such a lovely and charming host, and the property itself is just stunning. The views to the coast and the rainforest, the beautiful butterflies, and the luxurious cabins combined to make this a really perfect end to our North Queensland holiday. My husband and I had been diving on the reef for 5 days prior to our arrival, and were pretty exhausted, so Cockatoo Hill was a real haven of relaxation. We wouldn't normally pay this much for accommodation, but decided to splurge, and I'm so glad we did. I couldn't recommend it more. Thanks so much Carmen!
