“They don't know how to say the word, "no!"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I cannot say enough good things about this beautiful resort. The staff and facility exceeded our expectations (which were, quite honestly, very high.) I had been working 60 to 70 hours a week for several weeks before the trip, and my wife and I were REALLY looking forward to finding a time and place to simply lay out, relax, and get caught up on our leisure reading and relaxation in a luxurious setting. Zoetry fit this to a "T!"

We had prepared them ahead of time that we were vegan and were therefore somewhat limited in our menu choices. All of the dining staff went out of their way to discuss our dietary needs and make special, custom prepared, MIND BLOWINGLY good vegan meals during our entire five day stay. In fact, one of the cooks (an aspiring baker) actually went home our first night and whipped up several batches of vegan cookies, just for my wife and I!

That is the sort of service that we received at this beautiful resort. Everyone bent over backward to provide us the highest level of service at every turn. In fact, they really went out of their way to ANTICIPATE our needs - having things ready for us in the restaurant, getting lounge areas ready for us where they had seen us relaxing previously. I really felt like my wife and I were treated as "A list" celebrities. I felt like Brad Pitt, even if I didn't look like him!

Another example of the level of service - we mentioned that we enjoy snacking on fruit, and we would appreciate if they could try to leave a couple of pieces of fruit in the room for us. Next thing we know, they are leaving an entire, ornate, overflowing fruit basket in our room EVERY DAY of our stay!

Do keep this in mind - if you are looking for a great big pachanga ("party"), this is probably not the resort for you. Things are subdued and luxurious - there is no pool side reggae band, no loud disco at night. In fact, the whole place pretty much shuts down at around 10pm or so. (The intimate library bar is open later, and of course there is 24 hour room service.)

If you are looking for the very best in facility, furnishings, linen, food, drinks, and service so good you will NOT want to go home - this is the place for you! Trust me, treat yourself to a stay here, I GUARANTEE you will be spoiled for any other resort!

Room Tip: If you want to be able to get to the restaurants quickly, ask for a room near the main buildings. I...

Second trip to Zoetry. Beautiful and quiet. Good food. Not a bad room in the place...all have views and terraces facing water. Grounds are immaculate. Restaurants fine. Excellent mariachi guitars at dinner.
If you want to relax this is the place. Heated salt water pool is wonderful.

“Classic does not mean class”

Sitting here in a absolutely wonderful surrounding. Since 2 weeks we enjoy a really excellent room. Very nice people serving us. Thank you George, Alex, Miguel, Philippe and all staff. Also front desk was always friendly and helpul. Roomsevice soo friendly. Food is ok, not 5 star. We travel 8 month per year for business, normally stay in 4 to 5 star hotels all over the world. There is not really a lot to complain in Zoetry, but it is not a place we will come back. You will have a nice, relaxed holiday here. The rooms are amazing. What we really do not need in a relax holiday is a DRESS CODE for an average restaurant in a beach resort. Meaning, I can not wear my 400 usd sneakers and my 500 usd jeans to have a meal in a average restaurant? I was looking forward also to have some massages and treatments here. But after viewing the pricelist, I decided not to. It overpriced, i have treatments in most places I stay and never paid these amounts. Last but not least... We were maybe the only guests staying for 2 weeks. If you stay for 5 days, even one week, should be a perfect holiday. We had to listen now for 2 weeks every day for the whole day to the same cd. And it is not happy, mexican or carribean music. It is kind of Händel, classic nearly funeral music. The first 3 days you think is "class". After 5 days you get sad and want some fun music. After 14 days listening to the same sad music, it is nearly a torture. We started to ask, if there is some other music maybe after 8 days. Well, tomorrow we leave and no one cares, we have to listen to the same cd of sad music over and over again since 2 weeks. Well, the general manager "took a note". Hopefully you will be the lucky ones to enjoy any changes after he went through his notes after we left. Classic does not make class!

“Quiet, charming boutique resort with exceptional service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Just about everything you read in the most current reviews is true, so no need to repeat the common theme here, but if you want a peaceful, quiet, pampered stay, this is the place to consider. I do, however, want to mention a few other points. The beach area was somewhat of a disappointment. While the resort does its best to clean up the seaweed on a daily basis, the one lone cleaner simply cannot keep up. This beach is not really conducive for long, tranquil walks which is typically one of my favorite things to do when in the tropics. The seaweed is constant and just beyond the boarder of the Zoetry property, the beach is awash with tons of garbage. If you decide to stay within the confines of the property, you can only walk about 5 minutes in either direction. The second point deals with the food and service within the restaurants. So many reviews spoke to slow service with small portions, especially at dinner time. I found neither to be true. The resort was not to capacity, so perhaps that explains the fast service, but if you order an appetizer and main course, you should be satisfied. The third point, although mentioned frequently, deserves repeating. The rooms here are wonderfully spacious and clean. Maid service is exceptional and you can request both daily cleaning and nightly turndown service at specific times and know that those times will be met each and every day. Lastly, yes, lights out at 10:30pm. Everything shuts down quite early, but if like most people here, you will want to retreat to your wonderfully appointed suite anyway.

Room Tip: Read this tip!! Most people mention getting a higher room in order to get a better room. In most ca...

“Absoutely Fabulous”

This ia a truly amazing place with a wonderful staff - everything about it is top class. If you enjoy peace and tranquility and unobtrusive good service this is the place for you. We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed every second of it. We were able to read and talk and recharge our batteries without lifting a finger. From the guys around the pool who keep a watchful eye on the sun and move your sunshade accordingly to the waiters at the restaurants who keep their eye on your glass and refill it when needed to the luxurious suite which is kept immaculately throughout the stay - everything is wonderful. The icing on the cake came at departure when we were able to use our room right up until we were collected and taken to our car for transfer to the airport - amazing and what a difference it made to the long flight. If you are a party animal this is definately not for you but if not you will love it. I really believe that anyone who complains about this hotel should stay at home - because they will surely never find anything to suit. Thankyou so much to everyone there who worked so hard to make our trip unforgettable. Sandra and Craig McCarthy

Room Tip: I am sure all the rooms are lovely - we stayed in Bilblos which was very close to the pool and resta...
