“Friendly, clean, close to airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Stayed here at the beginning of our Yucatan holiday and again at the end as it is so close to the airport and we did not fancy staying in Cancun. They were happy to accept us arriving late, around midnight as it turned out, after a pre-arranged and short taxi ride, though they would have picked us up for a cheaper price. Victor, the overnight caretaker welcomed us with a friendly smile. Mario the owner made a special effort to meet us on the following day which was charming. The room we chose had two double beds and a kitchen area plus the bathroom and a ceiling fan. Quite a good size overall, fairly basic but what we needed (ask for pans, crockery etc if you need any). There was noise from live music from the bar behind the hotel but it did not go on until really late and the music was good. When we returned after 5 weeks they immediately remembered us, had remembered our booking and put us into the same room. They had looked after some gear for us and that was safely returned. Although not a fancy place this was what we needed, nice and central in this small town near the beach, and we would return. A positive bonus for us was the lack of noise from other people's air conditioning as our room and the rooms around ours did not have it. The noise was a real problem in most places we stayed as we are light sleepers and A/C goes on all night when it is used - though why people were using it in a rather cool December and January I couldn't understand. There are a variety of room types. Having a stove, sink and fridge is quite useful so we would probably do the same again.

“A Welcome Rescue”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

This charming and clean posada welcomed us in as refugees of recent Tropical Storm Rina when other places in town were not receiving visitors.

Not only is it affordable but it is friendly. Our first venture out after the storm found umbrellas waiting for us by the door.

The atmosphere is shaded, homey and relaxed but staff were quick to respond to all our requests. Occasionally there is no one there to speak English so plan on using your Spanish skills.

For beachless sun baths there are two upper level patios - one general and one private.

It's a quick walk to taxis, ATM, groceries, restaurants and the beach. The new studios on the upper levels are worth consideration.

“Charming - Great price and location!”

My husband and I started off our 2 week Mexican vacation here for our first 3 nights. We were greeted right away and showed to our room. Because it was slow, the owner (whom we never did get to meet, sadly) moved us to a better room. We had 2 beds, A/C, fridge, TV, and free wifi. Outside our door was the common patio which overlooks their pool. One night we wished we hadn't been right next to the patio as there were guests out there until 4am, so I didn't get much sleep that night but other then that - that was my only "complaint" - the bathroom was huge and had a huge tub. The location in town is great - we were about 2 blocks to the beach and to the center of town. Never felt unsafe at all here or at anytime in the town. We fell in love with Puerto Morelos - it's a simple, small town with excellent food. There is a bread/donut van that drives around and you MUST stop and get pastries from him. My husband and I ate all three meals out and ate on less then $20 a day. Eat at the taco stands!! There is a place somewhat close to the neighborhoods that makes the best SKIRT. A type of meat, sorta like carne asada - you must try it!

“Ideal location close to the airport”

We stayed here the last night of our holiday to be close to the airport (flight at 6 am).
The hotel itself is very basic, clean, but with mosquitos. Rather noisy as well.
Good place for a overnight stay, but nothing more.

“A nice surprise.”

I have just come back to Hotel Inglaterra to find that they are upgrading to boutique level. One of the ownwers showed me a new upstairs suite with two rooms, cooking facilities and a roof patio with a great view of the sea.about 130 meters away. However, they have kept some less expensive rooms downstairs for people traveling on a budget.
They are also well located just near the city center about 3 minutes walk away.
