We were first timers to PM and thus to Villas Playasol, but both were great choices. We are not first time travelers to Mexico and are not people who seek to go to a town where there is anything that smells like an all inclusive. There are all inclusive properties ringing the northern and southern fringes of PM, but you do not see them from Playasol.
The grounds at Playasol are impeccable, the pool immaculately cleaned and the on-site management team is super easy to work with from booking to check-out. The beach in front of Playasol is beautiful, clean and the water sparkling blue. The only downside to the beach is that there are not full loungers or umbrellas on the beach provided by the complex as a whole, rather beach chairs and umbrellas are supplied by each individual unit owner. Our umbrella was in rough shape and the chairs had clearly been around awhile, but they worked fine for us. Up by the pool there are nice loungers, so we used them when we wanted a change of scenery.
Now onto the inside of our 2 bed, 1.5 bath condo. We have stayed in several condos in Mexico and this one rates very high for cleanliness and sleep quality. I actually slept soundly in the bed, which often does not happen as beds in Mexico are often hard, but not this one, it was a nice firm mattress that was comfortable enough to induce sleep every night. The cleanliness was impressive, especially given the sand we tracked with us from our umbrella and chairs, someone came daily to spruce it up and give us towels as we needed them. The furniture in our unit was modern and the coffee pot worked well. The AC in the bedroom kept us cool on the few nights where it felt a little muggy. The ceiling fans in the main area kept us cool while reading out there. The shower water pressure and temperature options were just like home.
Overall the unit is compact with a galley style kitchen and a joined dining/seating area. There is plenty of room for two, or even two with two small children, but more than two adults and it might feel tight in the unit. However, if like us you are not spending a lot of time indoors then the size will not be an issue for you. The space is ample in both bedrooms as is the drawer/closet space.
Overall, we loved our stay at Playasol and hope to return again next year.
