Went to Now Sapphire with my extended family over Christmas week. We had been there twice previously when it was a Paradisus property and had always enjoyed our stay. The place is basically the same but they seem to have cut some corners here and there. This might explain why the price is cheaper than it used to be when it was Paradisus. We had preferred service which gave us Free Wifi and access to the Preferred loung with computers and snacks. If you did not have Preferred status you had to pay for Wifi in the room. The rooms were nice, but did seem musty. Everything just seemed moist there and nothing would dry in the room. I had three main problems with our stay. First, I took multiple cold showers. Other people in my family also took cold showers. The maintenance people would come and fix it but the next day the shower would be cold again. I think that hot showers are a basic for a hotel and a supposed 4 star property should definitely have this problem solved. Second, the fitness room was not working properly. It is small to begin with. It had two teadmills, both which were broken. This is probably the biggest week of the year for them and all the treadmills are broken? Third, there were no eating options (other than room service) for young children on New Years Eve. I have...Went to Now Sapphire with my extended family over Christmas week. Third, there were no eating options (other than room service) for young children on New Years Eve. I have a two year old who cannot stay up late on New Years Eve. Only one restuarant in the place was even open before 8 pm and that place had a fancy five course meal. Where was the kid option at a family resort? Obviously, these problems are solvable and our stay was good overall. Staff were friendly and they tried hard. The staff at preffered service were particularly helpful. There are definitely nicer places to stay, but they are also going to be more expensive. Not sure we will be back, but not bad for the price. Just beware the cut corners.More
