“Definitely going back!”

We cannot say enough about how great this resort was.

The food was terrific, so much selection and the a la cartes were amazing. Highly recommend Paramour and Lemon Grass. Don't believe the bad reviews. Honestly great food and my glass was never half empty. The lobby was a great place to hangout and grab a drink before dinner, (not that we needed another) haha. We stayed in building 3 and never had any issues with bugs and the preferred pool was right behind our building. The room was very clean and was stocked with more beer, pop and juice each day. If you happened to catch the beer guy outside you could always grab a few more for the room. The pools were nice but we spent most of our time at the preferred pool ( I might add it was a little cool). The service was so great we almost felt compelled to tip everyone but not once were we asked or felt as though we should tip. We recommend going preferred so you can access the adults only pool and reserve beds at the preferred (adults only) pool or on the beach, so no 7am wake up to get your towel onto a chair. No towel cards either and at the preferred pool Israel or Ivan will have you taken care of all day long. Antonio is the man.

All the staff was great and very prompt, no pressure to buy any time-shares and it was so close to the airport and Playa Del Carmen. We will definitely be going back soon and are recommending this resort to all of our friends! We went with another couple and have been to other resorts and we were all very impressed.

Room Tip: We were in building 3 on the top floor with a tropical view which was fine. No bugs and the preferre...

“Good stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We stayed at the Now Sapphire from 31 Jan to 4 Feb, 2012. This was our first all inclusive resort, so I don't have any others with which to compare it.
- The check-in process did not go smoothly. The first 2 rooms they sent us to had people in them already (!)...I'm not sure how they can't keep track of which rooms are occupied and which aren't. It took 60-90 minutes from when we arrived to finally get an unoccupied room.
- The room, the lobby and bar area, and the pool were all very clean and very nice. No complaints at all there.
- We never had any trouble finding a chair on the beach or by the pool as other reviewers have complained about. This is possibly because it was pretty cloudy for much of our visit.
- My biggest complaint about the resort is the quality of the food. It's not terrible as others have said, but it's far from great. The breakfast buffet was sufficient. We ate at the grill on the beach twice, and both times the food just wasn't good...it tasted like it had been mass produced hours before, then slightly warmed up before being served. The atmosphere at the dinner restaurants was nice, but again, the food didn't seem like it was cooked to order. Our favorite was the Mediterranean place. The portions were always very small at the entire resort (which I guess should be expected at an all-inclusive).
- I was also disappointed that the only beer available was Corona (on tap, and not very cold). I strongly recommend that the resort invest in some other beer options. They had decent liquor options, but the mixers used to make the traditional beach drinks (margarita, pina colada, strawberry daq, etc) were *very* sweet and not very good. The bars also served everything in flimsy plastic cups. It'd have been nice if at least one bar had drinks they were willing to make from scratch (as opposed to using pre-packaged mixers) and serve in an actual glass.
- Finally, the service was excellent all the way around (excepting the check-in). I didn't meet a single employee who wasn't polite and eager to help in any way possible. I was embarrassed by some of the other guests who were very rude and unfriendly toward the staff. Any complains they might have about the food or the drink options should not be taken out on the wait staff! These are concerns for the management.

“Excellent stay and staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Had a wonderful stay at this resort.
Check in-very fast
Room-cheapest room in resort and I was ok with that. Less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and 3 minutes to the lobby. The room is the same size as all the other regular rooms. I was on the top floor. I did not hear any noise from my neighbors even when on the balcony. The housekeeping staff was very accommodating and cleaned when it was convenient for us. The bed was very comfortable as was the bedding. Loved that the fridge was stocked with coke, diet coke, orange soda and corona. It was refilled everyday if needed. The bathroom was a great size. It had good lighting, the hair dryer worked great. My only complaint was the towels were rough and the water went from hot to cold and back to hot while taking showers.
Restaurants-I liked Paramour the best, food was good and the waiters are so wonderful. The breakfast buffet in the morning was great also, make your own omelet and the muffins were the highlight for me. I did the Hibachi one night, was a lot of fun but the beef was way over cooked and the dessert was not good at all. Best thing here was the fried rice and the veg sushi. Also was not feeling so great after eating all this (greasy) food.
Coffee-loved that this was open all day, my favorite was the cappuccinos and that you could bring over a shot of bailey's from the bar and they would add it to your hot or cold drink!
Grill-it was pretty good, group loved the pork tacos and I enjoyed the guac and chips almost everyday. The view is the best here, right along the beach with a view of the ocean.
I did not try the Med or Mexican restaurants.
Pool-nice and clean, not enough floats available at times.
Beach-very clean, always a chair open, 2 bars within walking distance but the waiters come right to you.
Drinks-at times could be on the weaker side, although If you ask them they will always top off your drink for you so you can always make it stronger. Also at the end of the week they ran out of banana mix.
My only other negative comments are that wifi is expensive ($15 per day) and it only works in the lobby area, not in my (far away) room. Also check out was a little slow.
Overall I would stay here again.

“Honeymoon with Nothing Extra!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

My husband and I just got back from our Honeymoon to the Now Sapphire. Here are some comments we have about the trip in general.

Our arrival to Cancun Airport went well. We were on time and the flight was excellent. Everything from the snacks, the beverages, and the flight attendants were remarkable! Once through customs we were directed to 4-5 Apple vacations reps which we found to be very confusing as we would go to one and then pointed in the direction of another. Our transfers went well and once at the Now Sapphire we were immediately directed to the Preferred Lounge for Private check in. Being that we were celebrating our Honeymoon we brought our Marriage Certificate with us and asked to see if there were any upgrades for honeymooners. We were told that since we already booked and paid for the Preferred Club and an Ocean Front room there was nothing they could do to upgrade the room for us. We did however get vouchers which were offered to everyone who booked this vacations that came with way to many stipulations that would even make them worthwhile and One Hour free at the Spa for the Water areas. We did use the spa for the quoted free one hour which was only a total of 20 minutes which we were walked through each station then told we were done. Please note their website clearly states when booking your Honeymoon with them and paying for the Preferred Club Ocean Front Suite you are given a complimentary honeymoon package which comes with romantic dinner for two on the beach one night during stay, 50 minutes couple massage, special turndown service with petit fours everynight, breakfast in bed etc.. We did not receive any of this and we did pay for the Preferred Club Ocean Front Suite.

Once through the check in process we were told by the concierge that we were to wait for another woman who would be over to us to discuss the privileges that came with the Preferred Club. To our surprise this woman was pressuring us to visit one of their sister properties for a free breakfast or dinner and a short presentation. She continued to ensure us that this was not a Time Share (we knew better). We repeatedly said no and finally after 20 minutes to half an hour of wasting our time she let us go to explore the hotel. After exiting the Lounge we were then approached by another gentleman who worked for the hotel and wondered if we had booked our tour to the other property yet. My husband was disgusted at the fact that these people were actually employed by the hotel that we already paid almost $4000.00 to vacation to and wanted us to spend a day off of this resort to see one of their others.

We got to our room which was beautiful, bed was very comfortable. Entertainment during the day was pretty much nonexistent. Some of the restaurants were closed at night which made food choices very limited. Beach was beautiful white sands however the water was very rough which made it difficult to swim in, there was quite a bit of seaweed which was cleaned quite frequently. Our room was on the main floor room # 321 which was very noisy all day as we think their might have been some renovations going on above us. Ice machines in our building as well as the building across from us were not working. There was no wrist bands which we almost found to be more of a hassle than anything as you were constantly asked our room number before entering the buffet for breakfast or any restaurants for that matter. Paying for the preferred club meant nothing as there was no way to distinguish between a person from that section or a regular room.

As we were waiting for our transfer to get back to the airport we were talking to another couple who booked their trip through Air Canada Vacations in September and they paid $2600.00 all said and done. Had we only paid something like that we wouldn’t have any complaints but the fact that we paid close to $4000.00 for the same vacation we are quite unimpressed.

One thing is to be said that the Apple Rep at the hotel Danielle was great! Very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. Apple Vacations will definitely be our first choice in the future.

Dear Sir / Madam,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on Tripadvisor about your recent stay with us. We appreciate the time you took to write a review, we share all of the comments with the operations staff.

We would like to comment that the do not disturb package applies in bookings with preferred club ocean front (7 nights) made through the travel agency. The upgrade does not apply in honeymooners package.

We sincerely apologize that your visit did not fulfill your expecations.

We really hope to have another opportunity to restore your confidence in our resort.

Sincerely yours,
